Adobe gets ex-Microsoft executive Shamik Basu to lead India engineering, product teams
Will drive AI-led creative product development and innovation.
Adobe has appointed Shamik Basu as vice president for its Creative Products Group in India, tasking him with leading the company’s engineering and product management teams in the country.
Based in Noida, Basu will report to Ely Greenfield, chief technology officer of the Creative Products Group, and will be part of the Adobe India leadership team.
In this role, he will work closely with global teams across key products including Adobe Firefly, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom and Premiere, contributing to the company’s AI-led innovation and product development efforts.
Basu joins Adobe from Microsoft, where he spent over three decades building large-scale software platforms and most recently led initiatives focused on performance, reliability and AI-powered experiences for hundreds of millions of users.
The appointment comes as Adobe continues to expand its product engineering and AI capabilities in India, one of its key growth markets globally.
Commenting on the appointment, Greenfield said Basu’s experience in building intelligent platforms will help strengthen Adobe’s innovation efforts and global alignment.
“Shamik’s experience building intelligent, large-scale platforms will strengthen local leadership and power the next phase of Adobe’s growth,” he said.
Basu said he looks forward to working with teams across India and globally to build next-generation creative experiences.
“I look forward to partnering with teams to build experiences that set the next benchmark in creative technology,” he said.
Last week, Adobe expanded its AI partnership with NVIDIA, announcing plans to build its Firefly AI models on Nvidia’s stack, including CUDA-X, NeMo and Cosmos.
The move will integrate Nvidia’s AI infrastructure, models and software libraries into Adobe’s creative and marketing platforms, while also enabling the development of custom enterprise AI models.
The company is also adding AI agents to content creation and marketing workflows using Nvidia’s Nemotron models and Agent Toolkit, supporting tasks across content production and campaign execution.
In parallel, Adobe introduced a cloud-native 3D digital twin solution for marketing, enabling enterprises to create virtual replicas of products and generate content across image, video and 3D formats.
