Anthropic expands India strategy with local Claude inference and partner ecosystem investments

The AI company will introduce in-country Claude inference through Amazon Bedrock, expand partner certifications and deepen enterprise deployments as regulated industries move AI workloads from pilots into production.

Anthropic is expanding its India strategy with the introduction of in-country inference for Claude through Amazon Bedrock, alongside new investments in its partner ecosystem and enterprise deployments as organisations seek to deploy AI while meeting data residency and regulatory requirements.

In the coming weeks, customers will be able to access Claude through an India endpoint on Amazon Bedrock, with inference requests processed on servers located within the country.

Anthropic said the capability addresses one of the most common requirements from Indian enterprises, particularly in highly regulated sectors such as banking, insurance, government and the public sector, where data sovereignty and compliance remain key considerations for production AI deployments.

The move forms part of a broader India expansion that also includes growth in Anthropic's local team, partner ecosystem and enterprise customer base following the opening of its Bengaluru office earlier this year.

Anthropic India managing director, Irina Ghose said local inference represents an important step in helping organisations operationalise AI.

"When that data can stay in India, AI moves from pilots into the systems that matter most," Ghose said.

"Adding in-country inference marks a significant step forward in what we are building here - a growing local team, strong performance in Indian languages, and partnerships that put this technology to work for India."

Amazon Web Services will provide the infrastructure through Amazon Bedrock, allowing organisations to deploy Claude using the same cloud platform many enterprises already use for production workloads.

Sandeep Dutta, president, AWS India and South Asia, said the availability of Claude with in-country inference would help enterprises and government agencies adopt frontier AI at scale while supporting digital transformation initiatives.

Partner ecosystem a strategic focus

Alongside the infrastructure announcement, Anthropic is expanding its investment in the Indian partner ecosystem, reflecting the growing role system integrators and consulting firms are playing in enterprise AI adoption.

The company said India recorded one of the highest registration numbers globally following the launch of the Claude Partner Network earlier this year, with Indian partners already represented across its Global Premier, Preferred and Select partner tiers.

Anthropic is also holding its first Claude Certification for Partners programme in Bengaluru this week, with plans to certify up to 5,000 professionals across its partner ecosystem.

The company said India's technology talent base positions local partners to support both domestic AI adoption and global enterprise deployments.

The emphasis on partner enablement reflects Anthropic's strategy of working with implementation partners that combine domain expertise with enterprise delivery capabilities, helping customers move from AI experimentation to governed production deployments.

Enterprise deployments gather pace

Anthropic also highlighted growing adoption of Claude across Indian enterprises and technology companies.

Among financial institutions, Axis Bank is using Claude to improve engineering productivity, while NPCI is building its AiNxt agentic AI platform with Claude. IndusInd Bank is deploying the model to develop an enterprise knowledge platform aimed at improving employee productivity and decision-making.

In the manufacturing sector, Godrej Industries is using Claude across internal application development, business analysis and knowledge management.

India's IT services companies are also expanding their use of Claude across enterprise delivery. TCS is equipping 50,000 associates with Claude, developing joint solutions for regulated industries and incorporating the technology into its TCS iON learning platform. Infosys is integrating Claude with its Topaz platform while establishing a dedicated Anthropic Centre of Excellence. Cognizant is embedding Claude into client engagements across manufacturing, life sciences and insurance.

Anthropic also pointed to recent partnerships with LTM and LTTS, where Claude is being integrated into enterprise engineering platforms, alongside adoption by digital-native companies including Swiggy, Instamart and Invideo.

Beyond enterprise deployments, Anthropic said it continues to invest in improving Claude's performance across Indian languages while expanding research, cybersecurity and public sector initiatives in the country.
