Avalara appoints Dulles Krishnan as general manager to scale India operations and partner ecosystem

Takes charge of India operations alongside the GTM role as Avalara doubles down on channel-led growth in the country.

Cloud-based compliance solutions provider Avalara has appointed Dulles Krishnan as General Manager, India Operations, as the company plans to accelerate growth in one of its key strategic markets.

Krishnan will lead the company’s growth in the Indian market, strengthening operations, customer engagement, and expanding regional partnerships to support Avalara’s mission of simplifying compliance for businesses of all sizes.

Krishnan continues to serve as the company’s regional Go-To-Market (GTM) leader.

The company provides cloud-based platforms that help businesses manage tax compliance and related regulatory requirements.

India’s regulatory environment is emerging as a key demand driver for tax and compliance. Tighter and granular regulations across BFSI, capital markets, and digital payments are increasing compliance pressure around KYC, AML (anti-money laundering), fraud analytics, and regulatory reporting, driven largely by RBI and SEBI mandates.

The implementation of the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act is further pushing organisations across banking, fintech, healthcare, HR, edtech, and ecommerce to adopt privacy-by-design frameworks.

On the taxation front, enterprises are seeking automation for GST, e-invoicing, TDS/TCS, and multi-state indirect tax reconciliation, particularly after tighter GSTN API integration and e-invoicing mandates.

Before joining Avalara, Krishnan held senior leadership roles at Coursera, Salesforce, AWS, IBM, and SAP, bringing expertise in scaling enterprise solutions and driving digital transformation across markets.

Commenting on his appointment, Dulles Krishnan said, "I'm honoured to take on this expanded role and lead Avalara's operations in India.”

"India is a dynamic growth market with tremendous potential, and I look forward to working with our customers and partners to unlock new opportunities and drive impact,” he added.

Krishnan brings more than 25 years of leadership experience across enterprise technology, cloud, and GTM strategy.

The appointment signals Avalara’s intent to position India as a critical hub for growth as businesses face increasing tax and compliance complexity across jurisdictions.
