Barracuda launches integrated email protection as cyberattacks in India outpace security response
The new platform combines continuous threat detection, automated remediation and cross-domain visibility to help enterprises and MSPs respond to evolving email attacks.
Barracuda Networks has launched an integrated email protection platform as organisations face increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks that are moving faster than traditional security systems can detect and contain.
Parag Khurana, country manager for India at Barracuda Networks, said, “AI-driven cyberattacks in India are moving faster than many security stacks can respond. Threat actors can now move from a personalised phishing lure to full account and endpoint compromise within minutes, often bypassing the legacy controls many organisations still rely on.”
According to Khurana, organisations need to move beyond static trust models and adopt continuous monitoring across email, identity and endpoint environments.
He added that some malicious emails will inevitably reach users, making rapid detection and automated containment increasingly important.
Against this backdrop, Barracuda has introduced Integrated Email Protection, a platform designed to provide continuous protection across the entire email attack lifecycle rather than relying solely on point-in-time threat detection.
The platform combines email security with telemetry from identity, network, data and application environments, along with automated remediation capabilities to help organisations identify and respond to threats even after they have entered the environment.
According to research released by Barracuda, a phishing attack can progress from credential theft to multifactor authentication (MFA) bypass and endpoint compromise within minutes.
The company also found that one in seven compromised accounts is subsequently used to launch additional attacks, allowing threat actors to move laterally across enterprise environments.
Barracuda said these developments are forcing organisations to rethink traditional email security approaches that focus primarily on blocking threats before delivery.
Address evolving email threats
The new platform is built on BarracudaONE, the company's cyber resilience platform, and correlates telemetry across email, identity, network, data and application environments.
By analysing signals across multiple security domains, the platform can continuously reassess risk and automatically respond as threats progress through different stages of an attack.
The solution works with both Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace environments and includes post-delivery message clawback capabilities to remove malicious emails after they reach users.
Barracuda said the platform can automatically investigate threats, correlate attack activity across systems and execute remediation actions without requiring extensive manual intervention from security teams.
The company has also integrated its Bailey AI assistant into the platform.
The assistant provides explanations of security decisions in plain language and enables administrators to review, validate or reverse automated actions.
Support enterprise and MSP operations
The platform has been designed for both enterprise deployments and managed service providers (MSPs).
Barracuda said MSPs will be able to use the platform to monitor multiple customer environments, investigate threats and automate remediation through a unified management framework.
Additional capabilities include unified email quarantine management, integrated reporting and automated threat investigation.
The platform also consolidates email security verdicts from Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and Barracuda into a single interface, helping administrators make faster security decisions.
Barracuda said the objective is to reduce operational complexity while improving threat detection and response across customer environments.
The company believes MSPs will require integrated security platforms as customers look to strengthen cyber resilience without significantly expanding internal security teams.
Barracuda’s latest research highlights the growing challenge facing security leaders as email continues to serve as a primary entry point for cyberattacks.
The company said the platform deploys through an API-based architecture and does not require mail-flow changes or modifications to MX records.
Barracuda expects the solution to help organisations strengthen cyber resilience as email threats become more sophisticated and attack timelines continue to shrink.
