Indian enterprises see strong ROI from generative AI adoption, Snowflake research shows

Indian firms are also planning the highest global investment in generative AI over the next year.

Teamwork with futuristic interface

Indian enterprises are reporting strong returns from generative AI initiatives as adoption expands across core enterprise operations, according to new research from Snowflake.

The study, conducted with Omdia, found that India ranks among the leading markets globally for generative AI adoption alongside the United States and Germany.

Around 71 percent of Indian respondents reported measurable returns from their generative AI investments, higher than the global average.

Snowflake’s managing director for India, Vijayant Rai, said organisations in the country are rapidly moving beyond early experimentation with AI technologies.

“Indian organisations are moving quickly from early experimentation to embedding generative AI into core business operations,” he said.

The research indicates that generative AI adoption in India is expanding across enterprise functions, including IT operations, software development, data analytics and cybersecurity.

Organisations are deploying AI tools to assist engineering teams with tasks including generating code, reviewing software and optimising infrastructure environments.

These deployments help enterprises accelerate development cycles, automate routine engineering work and improve system reliability.

As a result, generative AI is being integrated into operational workflows rather than remaining limited to experimental projects.

Organisations reporting measurable business outcomes

Enterprises in India are also reporting operational improvements from generative AI deployments.

According to the research, 94 percent of organisations said generative AI has improved operational efficiency.

Respondents also reported improvements in innovation and financial performance as AI helps streamline workflows and support faster decision-making.

These outcomes indicate that enterprises are linking AI adoption to tangible business results.

Growing investment and partner opportunities

Looking ahead, Indian organisations are planning significant investments in generative AI.

The research found that enterprises in India expect to allocate around 28 percent of their technology budgets to generative AI initiatives over the next 12 months, the highest share among the countries surveyed.

Adoption of agentic AI systems is also increasing as organisations explore AI agents that can automate tasks and support software development workflows.

Technologies including Snowflake Cortex Code, which operates within the Snowflake AI Data Cloud, can support these environments by enabling coding agents to work with enterprise data.

As organisations embed AI across software development, IT operations and data analytics workflows, system integrators and cloud partners are likely to play a growing role in modernising data platforms, integrating AI models with enterprise applications, and building secure data pipelines that allow AI tools to work with internal business data.

Managed service providers may also see rising demand for operating and governing AI environments, including monitoring model performance, managing AI infrastructure and ensuring compliance as organisations move generative AI from pilot projects into production systems.
