NTT DATA launches programme to support global companies setting up GCCs in India

Aims to help organisations establish and scale capability centres while expanding the use of advanced technologies including AI, digital twin and high-performance computing.

NTT DATA has launched a new programme to support global companies establishing and scaling Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in India.

Called the GCC Innovation Acceleration Programme, the initiative will help organisations build strategic offshore hubs in the country, including GCCs and other innovation and delivery centres.

The programme was launched in October 2025 and aims to support over 50 companies over the next three years.

NTT DATA said global demand for highly skilled IT professionals continues to increase, prompting organisations to expand overseas technology and innovation hubs.

The company identifies India as a key location for the programme because of its large talent pool and strong technical capabilities.

India’s GCC ecosystem is also expected to grow over the coming years.

According to a report by NTT DATA, the sector is projected to expand nearly 70 percent to reach $110 billion by 2030, up from about $65 billion currently.

The report also estimates that India could host over 2,500 GCCs by 2030, employing nearly 4.5 million professionals.

Through the GCC Innovation Acceleration Programme, NTT DATA will support companies across multiple stages of GCC development.

This includes assistance with planning and governance design, along with support for talent development and process optimisation.

The company said these capabilities are intended to help organisations establish new centres and improve the operations of existing ones.

NTT DATA will also help organisations use advanced technologies within their GCC environments.

These include agentic AI, generative AI, high-performance computing, digital twin, smart robotics, blockchain and the Innovative Optical and Wireless Network (IOWN).

The company will also promote co-creation research and development with clients through its global network of innovation centres.

These initiatives will support projects from proof-of-concept development through to commercialisation.

NTT DATA’s executive managing director for India, Avinash Joshi, said that while GCCs in India are increasingly evolving into innovation hubs for multinational companies, enterprise-scale AI adoption is still at an early stage.

According to him, fewer than 20 percent of GCCs currently use AI as a core capability.

Joshi said the company aims to help organisations accelerate the use of AI and unlock business value through the programme.

Supported initiatives at GCCs

NTT DATA said it has already supported several initiatives at GCCs and other innovation hubs in India.

At the Unilever GCC Hub Bengaluru, the company worked on developing a global innovation strategy and supported the use of advanced R&D technologies.

The company is also working with Denso International India Private Limited on digital platform development for mobility circular economy and integrated manufacturing.

In addition, NTT DATA is collaborating with a global automotive company to support innovation through digital twin technology and process improvement initiatives.

NTT DATA Innovation Centre’s head, Hiroshi Furukawa, said GCCs are expected to play an important role in strengthening the competitiveness of global companies.

He said the GCC Innovation Acceleration Programme will support co-creation research and development with clients by leveraging the company’s global workforce and technology capabilities.
