SailPoint has introduced new AI-powered capabilities for its SailPoint Platform as part of its adaptive identity vision to address identity security challenges in modern enterprise environments.

The company said the updates focus on strengthening identity governance as organisations manage a growing mix of human users, machine identities and AI agents across cloud and digital platforms.

According to SailPoint, traditional identity governance models that rely on periodic manual reviews are becoming less effective as enterprises accelerate cloud adoption and deploy AI-driven systems.

SailPoint’s EVP of product and chief technology officer, Chandra Gnanasambandam, said, the old way of identity governance is simply no longer effective. It’s not enough to rely on static, after-the-fact reviews in today's dynamic threat landscape.

“We are moving toward a new, AI-powered adaptive approach to provide continuous visibility and real-time governance for all identity types, including AI identities, machines, agents, and credentials. This year, we aim to help our customers move to least privilege or zero standing privilege. It’s about truly securing the business, not just checking a box, at the speed that AI-driven enterprises demand,” Gnanasambandam added.

The new capabilities will provide continuous visibility and governance across identities while helping organisations manage access risks effectively.

Among the key updates are new capabilities for privilege discovery and classification and privilege insights, which automatically discover and classify privileged access across enterprise environments.

SailPoint said these capabilities aim to provide organisations with improved visibility into privilege-related risks and help security teams better manage access across applications and systems.

Expanding identity security to AI agents and machine identities

SailPoint has also expanded its identity security capabilities to address the growth of non-human identities, including AI agents and machine accounts.

New connectors for SailPoint Agent Identity Security allow organisations to discover and govern AI agents across platforms including Microsoft 365 Copilot, Databricks, Amazon Bedrock, Google Vertex AI, ServiceNow AI Platform, Snowflake Cortex AI and Salesforce Agentforce.

The company also enhanced its Machine Identity Security capabilities with lifecycle management for traditional machine accounts.

SailPoint introduced a new AI agent for SailPoint Harbor Pilot, its suite of AI-powered agents designed to help organisations manage identity security programmes.

The new agent allows users to request access through a guided conversational interface, simplifying what has traditionally been a complex access request process.

SailPoint also announced updates to its Observability & Insights and Data Access Security capabilities.

These enhancements provide improved visibility into identity risks through the SailPoint Identity Graph and help organisations map data access pathways and identify potential sensitive data exposure.

The company said it is also modernising core governance capabilities through a next-generation Access Certification engine and an updated Separation of Duties framework. These capabilities are expected to become available in the second half of 2026.
