Snowflake launches Project SnowWork to bring agentic AI execution to business users

Introduces an autonomous AI platform as a control plane to connect enterprise data, intelligence and action.

Snowflake has launched Project SnowWork, an autonomous enterprise AI platform to move artificial intelligence from insight generation to real-world execution, as the company advances its vision of the “agentic enterprise.”

Currently available in research preview to a limited set of customers, Project SnowWork enables business users to execute complex, multi-step workflows using conversational prompts.

This reduces reliance on manual coordination across teams, tools and data systems.

The platform acts as a proactive AI partner, allowing users to request outcomes, including building board-ready presentations, identifying churn risks or analysing supply chain bottlenecks, and have the system autonomously plan and execute tasks end-to-end.

Snowflake’s CEO, Sridhar Ramaswamy, said, “To effectively harness agentic technology, enterprises need more than models and applications. They need a coordinating layer, a central control plane that aligns intelligence, enterprise data, policy, and execution across the organization to drive agentic cohesion.”

“Today, we introduced Project SnowWork, now available in research preview with a select group of customers, a first step toward delivering this control plane and connecting enterprise data, intelligence, and action in a governed way for business users,” he added.

This marks a shift in enterprise AI, where systems are no longer limited to answering queries or generating recommendations, but are expected to determine next steps and take action within defined enterprise policies and governance frameworks.

This will address the last-mile gap between enterprise data and business execution.

Automates complex business workflows across enterprise systems

Despite investments in AI and modern data platforms, organisations still rely on analysts, static dashboards and fragmented tools to translate insights into action.

According to the company, SnowWork addresses this by enabling users to move directly from intent to execution in a single interaction.

The platform autonomously orchestrates workflows by querying enterprise data, generating analysis, synthesising insights and delivering final outputs along with recommended next steps.

It also introduces persona-specific AI profiles personalised for functions, including finance, sales, marketing and operations.

These profiles understand business context, workflows and key performance indicators, allowing non-technical users to generate outputs that are relevant and actionable.

The system can produce structured deliverables, including reports, spreadsheets and presentations, reducing the time required for tasks that traditionally take days of cross-functional coordination.

Snowflake positions this as a shift from ‘AI as a copilot to AI as an execution layer’ embedded directly into enterprise workflows, enabling faster decision-making and reducing operational backlogs.

Building the control plane for the agentic enterprise

A key differentiator for Project SnowWork is its architecture, which Snowflake describes as a step toward building a control plane for the agentic enterprise.

This control layer connects enterprise data, AI models and business applications to ensure that AI-driven actions are coordinated, governed and aligned with organisational policies.

Unlike general-purpose AI tools, SnowWork operates on Snowflake’s governed data foundation, ensuring all actions are grounded in a single source of truth with shared business definitions, role-based access controls, audit logging and data security policies.

The platform evaluates user intent and determines what actions should be taken, under what constraints, when human intervention is required and how execution should be coordinated across systems.

This allows enterprises to move from isolated AI use cases to a unified system where intelligence drives secure, data-backed action at scale.

Project SnowWork reflects a broader shift in enterprise computing—from systems that process data to those that reason and act within defined boundaries.

It forms the foundation of the agentic enterprise, combining trusted data, AI models, enterprise systems and a control layer to drive coordinated action.

Snowflake positions it as the layer connecting intelligence to execution—turning AI into a system for action.
