Tata Communications, TTBS bring AI platform to SMBs through channel ecosystem
The collaboration combines AI infrastructure, Voice AI and TTBS' partner network to help SMBs adopt AI through a unified technology stack.
Tata Communications and Tata Tele Business Services (TTBS) have partnered to deliver a unified AI platform for India's small and medium businesses (SMBs), combining AI infrastructure, communications capabilities and TTBS' channel ecosystem to simplify enterprise AI adoption.
The collaboration brings together Tata Communications' AI and cloud platforms with TTBS' extensive SMB reach, physical channel partner network and digital marketplace.
This will help businesses deploy AI without the complexity traditionally associated with enterprise-grade technology.
The companies said the partnership is aimed at expanding AI adoption among India's over 60 million SMBs while creating a larger addressable market for both organisations.
For channel partners, the collaboration brings together AI infrastructure, communications, cloud and connectivity into a single offering that can be delivered through TTBS' existing partner ecosystem.
Partners will also be able to offer customers different deployment models, ranging from ready-to-use AI agents to access to a broader AI infrastructure stack.
The first offering under the partnership is an AI-powered voice agent that enables businesses to deploy virtual assistants with dedicated business phone numbers.
The solution can manage customer enquiries, schedule appointments, process orders, handle follow-ups and provide always-on customer support through natural language conversations.
The Voice Agent runs on Tata Communications' Commotion conversational AI platform and is hosted on the company's Vayu AI Cloud, while TTBS provides the underlying voice infrastructure and connectivity required for enterprise deployments.
According to the companies, integrating their respective platforms enables SMBs to adopt AI faster without having to build or manage complex infrastructure. The unified architecture also supports secure access to enterprise data while addressing requirements around scalability and data sovereignty.
Tata Communications managing director and chief executive officer Ganesh Lakshminarayanan said India's AI opportunity will be driven not only by large enterprises but also by enabling millions of SMBs with access to enterprise-grade digital infrastructure.
"By combining TTBS's extensive SMB relationships with our cloud, AI and communications expertise, we are creating a differentiated platform that allows businesses to adopt AI with confidence, while ensuring data sovereignty, security and scalability," he said.
Tata Teleservices managing director Harjit Singh said India's SMB segment represents one of the largest opportunities for AI-led transformation and requires technology offerings designed around business realities rather than enterprise complexity.
"Our collaboration with Tata Communications builds on this foundation to deliver a more comprehensive AI ecosystem that enables businesses to adopt AI with confidence," Singh said. "Together, we are helping SMBs improve productivity, enhance customer experiences and unlock new opportunities for growth."
The companies demonstrated the platform through industry-specific use cases, including AI voice agents for bus ticketing and mobility services, where customers can book tickets, modify reservations and access travel information through conversational interactions.
In healthcare, the platform can support appointment scheduling, patient communication and post-treatment engagement.
Beyond the initial Voice AI offering, Tata Communications and TTBS said the collaboration will evolve into a broader portfolio of AI-powered services and digital solutions.
The companies expect the platform to serve as a foundation for future AI offerings delivered through TTBS' partner ecosystem, extending access to sovereign AI infrastructure and enterprise AI capabilities for SMBs across India, with the potential to expand into global markets over time.
