TCS launches Oracle AI Data Platform Lab as enterprises struggle to move AI beyond pilots
The company plans to expand the facility model to four more cities across India over the next three years.
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has launched India's first Oracle AI data platform lab and centre of excellence (CoE) in Kolkata to help organisations overcome data and infrastructure challenges that often prevent AI projects from moving beyond the pilot stage.
The facility, developed in collaboration with Oracle, will help enterprises prepare data for AI initiatives, improve analytics capabilities and deploy AI-driven automation at scale.
Located at Delta Park Lords in Kolkata, the lab will provide customers with reusable architectures, industry-specific solutions, and accelerators to reduce the complexity of AI adoption.
TCS also plans to expand the Oracle AI Data Platform Lab and CoE model to four additional cities across India over the next three years.
The move comes as enterprises increase investments in artificial intelligence but continue to face challenges related to fragmented data environments, limited scalability and operational inefficiencies.
Organisations have successfully tested AI use cases but struggle to operationalise them across business functions due to data quality, governance and infrastructure limitations.
Arvind Mehra, head, Alliances and Channels – Technology, Oracle India, said the initiative will help organisations operationalise AI by building on a secure and unified data foundation.
He said the platform will enable customers to generate business insights and deploy intelligent automation using integrated AI capabilities.
The new facility is intended to help address these barriers by providing a structured environment where customers can experiment with AI technologies and accelerate deployment into production environments.
The facility is powered by Oracle AI Data Platform, which combines Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Oracle Autonomous AI Database and OCI Enterprise AI.
The platform will help enterprises make data AI-ready and support the development of agentic AI applications.
According to TCS, customers will be able to use the platform to transform enterprise data into actionable insights and support intelligent automation initiatives.
The company expects the facility to help organisations reduce the time required to move from AI ideation and experimentation to large-scale implementation.
By bringing together cloud infrastructure, database technologies and AI services, the platform aims to provide customers with a unified environment for analytics, application development and AI deployment.
Support AI deployment at scale
TCS said the new facility forms part of its broader investment in AI engineering, intelligent data platforms and next-generation analytics capabilities.
The company believes that data readiness remains one of the biggest obstacles to enterprise AI adoption.
By providing pre-built frameworks, implementation accelerators and industry-specific solutions, the lab aims to help customers simplify deployment and reduce the risks associated with AI projects.
Sudipto Ray, vice president and global head, Oracle Practice, TCS, said the facility will accelerate the journey from ideation to experimentation and ultimately to full-scale deployment.
He added that organisations will be able to use Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and AI capabilities to modernise analytics environments, improve application development processes and adopt intelligent automation more effectively.
The lab will also serve as a hub for developing and testing AI solutions that can be replicated across industries.
TCS currently has a centralised team of 26,000 Oracle-skilled professionals across India supporting customer projects and AI initiatives.
The company plans to leverage this talent pool to help customers implement AI, cloud and data transformation programmes through the new facility.
