Tech Mahindra, CoRover target global markets with India-built AI platforms

The companies will combine BharatGPT, Project Indus and TechM Orion to develop sovereign, enterprise and agentic AI solutions for government and commercial customers.

Tech Mahindra and CoRover.ai have partnered to take India-developed AI platforms into global enterprise, government and public-sector markets, positioning the collaboration around sovereign AI, agentic AI and digital public infrastructure use cases.

The partnership brings together CoRover's BharatGPT platform with Tech Mahindra's Project Indus and TechM Orion platforms to develop AI solutions designed around local languages, contextual requirements and operational needs.

The companies said the collaboration will focus on converting India-built AI innovation into deployable solutions for enterprises, government agencies and public institutions across global markets.

Unlike many AI partnerships centred on experimentation or proof-of-concept deployments, the two companies are positioning the alliance around real-world implementation and commercial adoption of AI technologies developed in India.

CoRover.ai founder and CEO Ankush Sabharwal said the partnership combines CoRover's AI platforms with Tech Mahindra's technology and engineering capabilities to create solutions that address both local and global requirements.

A key objective of the collaboration is to expand the reach of AI capabilities developed and deployed in India into international markets.

The companies said they will “jointly develop” capabilities spanning sovereign AI, enterprise AI, agentic AI, and digital public infrastructure, areas attracting interest from governments and enterprises seeking greater control over data, language support, and AI deployment frameworks.

The partnership builds on platforms already developed by both organisations.

CoRover contributes BharatGPT, while Tech Mahindra brings Project Indus and TechM Orion into the collaboration. Together, the companies aim to strengthen AI capabilities for citizen services, enterprise operations and public-sector applications.

The alliance will also explore opportunities in government programmes, public institutions, and enterprise transformation initiatives where organisations need AI systems aligned with local regulations, operational environments, and language requirements.

Sovereign AI and enterprise adoption take centre stage

There is a growing interest in sovereign AI initiatives, where countries and organisations are looking to build AI capabilities that can operate within local data, governance and policy frameworks.

Tech Mahindra said the next stage of India's AI journey lies in turning indigenous innovation into solutions that can be adopted at scale across industries and geographies.

Tech Mahindra chief AI and innovation officer, Nikhil Malhotra, said India has already demonstrated its ability to create meaningful AI innovation.

According to Malhotra, the next opportunity is to convert those innovations into solutions that can be deployed across enterprises, governments and institutions globally.

For enterprise customers, the partnership is expected to focus on AI deployments across business operations, customer engagement, decision-making and digital transformation. For government and public-sector organisations, the companies see opportunities around citizen-facing services and digital public infrastructure initiatives.

The collaboration also highlights a broader trend emerging across India's technology sector, where companies are looking beyond domestic AI deployments and seeking to commercialise India-built AI platforms in global markets.

As sovereign AI, agentic AI and public-sector AI adoption gain momentum, partnerships that combine AI platforms, engineering expertise and global delivery capabilities are likely to play a larger role in taking India-origin innovation to international customers.
