WACKER taps HCLTech to build digital transformation GCC in India

The Pune-based centre will support engineering, IT and digital initiatives as WACKER strengthens its global delivery and execution capabilities.

Wacker Chemie AG has established a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Pune in collaboration with HCLTech as the chemicals and biotechnology company expands its engineering, IT and digital transformation capabilities.

The centre will serve as a delivery hub for WACKER's engineering, technology and digital programmes while providing what the companies describe as a flexible, resilient and future-ready operating foundation.

The move expands the strategic relationship between WACKER and HCLTech, with the technology services company taking responsibility for helping establish and scale the GCC.

According to WACKER, the Pune centre will help strengthen the company's global delivery and digital execution capabilities as it continues modernising technology and business operations.

Director, WACKER Excellence Hub Pune director Fabian Seibold said the GCC represents an important step in strengthening the company's delivery and transformation initiatives.

"The Global Capability Centre is an important step in strengthening our global delivery and digital execution capabilities," Seibold said.

"HCLTech's experience in building and scaling such centres allows us to move forward with a model that supports agility, governance and long-term growth."

HCLTech said the engagement will be delivered through a phased operating model focused on building long-term capabilities rather than establishing a standalone delivery organisation.

HCLTech Germany executive vice president and country head, Frank Fehler, described the centre as the next stage in WACKER's transformation programme.

"This expanded engagement builds on the strategic partnership between WACKER and HCLTech and marks an important milestone in WACKER's digital transformation," Fehler said.

HCLTech to support scaling and governance

As part of the engagement, HCLTech will help establish delivery structures, build teams and introduce operational frameworks designed to support WACKER's long-term objectives.

The company said it will leverage capabilities in DevSecOps and automation to improve delivery efficiency, governance and digital modernisation efforts.

HCLTech executive vice president and global GCC practice head, Kiran Cherukuri, said the focus is on creating a scalable and resilient operating model.

"Through a phased customer-centric operating model, we are establishing a flexible, resilient, and future-ready GCC for WACKER in Pune," Cherukuri said.
