Wipro bags $1B Olam deal, acquires captive unit Mindsprint to deepen agri-tech play
Eight-year engagement combines AI-led transformation with IP integration across farm-to-fork value chain.
Wipro has secured an over $1 billion transformation deal with Olam Group, marking one of its largest engagements while simultaneously acquiring the client’s captive IT arm, Mindsprint.
The eight-year deal, with a committed spend of $800 million, positions Wipro to deliver end-to-end transformation across Olam’s global operations using a consulting-led, AI-powered approach.
As part of the engagement, Wipro will acquire Mindsprint, Olam’s IT and digital services business, which will become a wholly owned subsidiary post regulatory approvals.
The transaction is expected to close by the end of June 2026.
Mindsprint brings over 3,200 professionals along with deep domain expertise and a portfolio of IP-led platforms built around the food and agri-business sector.
Wipro Limited’s CEO and MD, Srini Pallia, said, “By bringing Mindsprint’s deep domain expertise and IP-led solutions, together with Wipro’s consulting-led and AI-powered capabilities, we aim to unlock growth opportunities, catalyze innovation, and drive market‑ready transformation for Olam Group and our global clients across the industry.”
The deal combines platform capabilities, domain IP, and services delivery into a single transformation model, an approach increasingly shaping large enterprise engagements.
Captive integration and AI-led transformation converge
Wipro will deploy its capabilities across Olam’s “farm-to-fork” value chain, covering farming, forecasting, trading, supply chain operations, and customer engagement.
The focus is on improving operational efficiency, strengthening resilience, and enabling scalable growth.
The engagement builds on Wipro Intelligence, the company’s AI-powered platform suite, combined with its partner ecosystem and industry consulting capabilities to drive execution.
At the same time, Mindsprint’s existing platforms, including solutions for plantation management, procurement, payables, sales operations, and commodity trading, will be integrated into Wipro’s broader delivery stack.
This creates a combined model where industry-specific IP and AI platforms are embedded directly into transformation execution, rather than being layered on top of services.
For Wipro, the acquisition strengthens its vertical positioning in the food and agri-business sector, an area where domain depth and operational context are critical for large-scale transformation.
For Olam, the move aligns with its ongoing restructuring strategy, which focuses on sharpening core operations while leveraging external partners to drive digital transformation at scale.
The integration also reflects a broader shift in large deals, where enterprises are moving beyond traditional outsourcing models toward co-owned transformation frameworks that combine internal capabilities with external scale.
Wipro’s leadership indicated that the combined entity will enable faster execution of mission-critical programs, while also creating a scalable platform for future innovation across the agri value chain.
Last month, Wipro signed a multi-year agreement with TruStage to modernise its retirement services business through a consulting-led, AI-powered transformation programme. The engagement focuses on transforming TruStage’s core operations and technology stack to improve digital customer experience, increase operational efficiency, and enable faster product innovation.
The programme is led by Wipro’s consulting arm, which is working with TruStage to define a long-term innovation roadmap for its retirement services business.
Such deals indicate how large enterprises are increasingly consolidating technology, operations, and domain expertise into unified transformation programs, with system integrators playing a central role in orchestrating end-to-end outcomes.
