For Lenovo, Hybrid AI is the way forward

Lenovo showcases end-to-end, responsible AI capabilities to fast-track AI adoption and innovation for individuals, enterprises, and entire industries—delivering Smarter AI for All

For Lenovo, hybrid AI is the way forward. After all, businesses continue to struggle to demonstrate return on investment (ROI) from their AI investments. While the need for AI continues to grow, developing and deploying AI use cases needs to take a more controlled approach that can simplify its path.

This means providing businesses and consumers with a seamless, secure integration of private and public clouds, individual and enterprise solutions. While these goals were announced last year, Lenovo continued the momentum at this year’s Tech World with several new updates.

The technology giant unveiled the next phase of its Smart AI for All vision at its global innovation event. Among the new technologies announced include the Hybrid AI Advantage for enterprises, the latest ThinkPad laptop, a Lenovo AI Now local AI agent, the Lenovo Learning Zone software platform and next-gen Lenovo Neptune liquid cooling for servers as well as proofs of concepts that harness AI for social impact.

According to Yuanqing Yang, Lenovo Chairman and CEO, the company is building on the announcements from last year’s Tech World. He mentioned that Lenovo has been actively delivering on its hybrid-AI vision for customers and partners across the globe.

“We already see that AI is improving the quality of life for individuals and delivering higher productivity for enterprises—and Lenovo makes this paradigm shift faster, more accessible, more connected, and more sustainable. Our strategy is to combine modularization with customization, so that we can respond quickly to customer needs while tailoring our solutions for them,” said Yang.

The Lenovo Hybrid AI Advantage framework that was announced for example, includes the new Lenovo AI Library, a comprehensive repository of ready-to-deploy AI templates that allow businesses to implement AI solutions with minimal complexity. The AI Library spans multiple industries and business functions, including marketing, IT operations, product development, and customer service.

NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang was also at Tech World as both he and Yang unveiled Lenovo AI Advantage with NVIDIA. By combining Lenovo’s capabilities together with NVIDIA AI software, the solution empowers organizations to turn data and intelligence into business outcomes faster and more efficiently, accelerating AI adoption and delivering greater ROI.

For Yang, delivering Hybrid AI requires leveraging a purpose-built portfolio and AI services expertise that simplifies the path to AI and enables real-world applications for businesses. As such, the collaboration with NVIDIA brings together the best of both companies to ensure rapid and reliable AI outcomes for businesses across industries.

“Lenovo Hybrid AI Advantage with NVIDIA helps customers achieve outcomes faster by enabling their people to access relevant intelligence across personal, enterprise and public AI platforms,” added Yang.

A local AI agent

Echoing his sentiments was Dr. Tolga Kurtoglu, Lenovo’s Chief Technology Officer. Dr Kurtoglu mentioned that Lenovo’s key differentiator is AI integration across its vast portfolio, from on-device AI agents to more efficient server architectures. He added that Lenovo also joins its partners in a tireless commitment to scientifically rigorous exploration, which keeps them defining the future of AI.

Looking at the Lenovo AI Now local AI agent, the solution is designed to transform traditional PCs into truly personalized AI devices. The AI Now local AI agent leverages a local Large Language Model (LLM) built on Meta’s Llama 3.1, enabling real-time interaction with a user’s personal knowledge base (PKB) without relying on cloud processing.

With enhanced data privacy at its core, users can employ Lenovo AI Now to automate and simplify a wide range of tasks, from document management and online meeting transcriptions to device control and content generation. According to Lenovo, the platform’s intuitive AI assistant supports natural language interaction, allowing users to quickly search on device documents, local images, or generate text summaries based on specific queries.

Also integrated with PC assistant functionalities, AI Now can be integrated with third party AI applications as well. This extends the platform’s capabilities to support office work, creative tasks, and even gaming.

“Our focus on personalized, productive, and protected experiences ensures that our AI-driven ecosystem helps unlock creativity, enhances collaboration, and seamlessly integrates into any digital environment,” said Luca Rossi, President, Intelligent Devices Group at Lenovo.
