NCS’ Tesseract showcases innovation capabilities in AI and digital resilience
The Tesseract is a 4,500sqft facility opened in April 2023 that has conducted more than 70 workshops for existing and new clients to identify 400+ opportunities in GenAI, metaverse, digital trust and sustainability.
As a subsidiary of Singtel Group, NCS has grown to become one of the most successful technology services firms in the Asia Pacific region. With a 13,000 strong team across 57 specializations, NCS provides differentiated and end-to-end technology services to clients with its NEXT capabilities in digital, data, cloud and platforms, as well as core offerings in application, infrastructure, engineering and cybersecurity.
Key to the company’s success is its continued partnerships with technology vendors. NCS believes by building a strong partner ecosystem with leading technology players, research institutions and start-ups, they can support both open innovation and co-creation.
In July this year, NCS launched a suite of AI and digital resilience solutions for organizations looking to re-invent themselves in the AI era. These include frameworks, solutions and accelerators that governments and enterprises in Asia Pacific can easily tap to use AI securely and at scale to drive sustainable game-changing innovation.
According to a study by NCS and IDC, digital resilience is key to companies in their AI deployment. The study revealed that companies in the United States, Nordics, and Singapore lead the pack in AI adoption and strength of digital resilience. This is not surprising given that digital resilience ensures businesses are capable of adopting and managing emerging technologies with minimal complications.
With businesses expecting strong ROI from their AI investments, being digital resilient in their approach to AI helps them achieve greater success. NCS mapped the study based on its AI+DR Matrix and revealed the results in four quadrants. The AI+DR Matrix enables organizations to build a strategic roadmap that enhances both AI and digital resilience concurrently.
The first quadrant is the Game Changers, which make up 7.3%. These are organizations that are well-positioned to achieve long-term and sustained success with AI and other innovative technologies. Next is Missed Opportunities that make up 6%. These are organizations with strong digital resiliency but not fully leveraging AI to drive innovation and growth.
Another 6% is the House of Cards which represents organizations who may have achieved short-term success with AI but are at risk of disruptions due to weak digital resiliency. The final quadrant is AI Dust. Representing 80.7%, these are entities that are likely to fall behind due to inability to either harness AI or maintain robust digital operations.
Given these findings, NCS believes organizations should consider setting up AI Centers of Excellence as a start to unlock the benefits of AI and digital resilience. This allows them to have specific focus areas that reflect their business priorities as well as where they are in the AI+DR Matrix.
NCS use-cases
During a recent media tour at the Tesseract, NCS’s innovation capability in Singapore, NCS showcased some of its achievements in helping businesses in their AI journey. The Tesseract is a 4,500sqft facility opened in April 2023 that has conducted more than 70 workshops for existing and new clients to identify 400+ opportunities in GenAI, metaverse, digital trust and sustainability.
Among the use cases showcased included some of the partnership NCS has done with government agencies and technology vendors in Singapore. This includes an NCS partnership with AWS to develop a generative AI solution for the Ministry of Manpower’s contact center.
Using NCS’ speech recognition tool Ins8.ai and Amazon Bedrock, the solution provides real-time speech-to-text transcription that understands Singaporean and regional accents. The solution is also capable of summarizing transcripts for better recording and referencing as well as generating responses to complex queries within seconds with accuracy of 93%.
The Ins8.ai tool was also used by NCS to develop a Healthcare Assistant AI that delivers medical content analysis, recommend treatment and automate administrative tasks to enhance productivity for doctors and nurses. NCS’ large language model NEXTgpt is also used to provide doctors with medical summaries based on the transcripts, analyse patients’ health records and make treatment recommendations that are in line with guidelines by the Singapore Medical Council.
Apart from the Ministry of Manpower and in healthcare, NCS has also partnered other agencies and developed solutions. This includes solutions for Singapore’s Civil Defense Force and Changi Airport Group. NCS has also leveraged Microsoft Azure to develop an intelligent tyre pressure monitoring system, Tirematics, for Bridgestone, delivering real-time tyre monitoring and management, reducing the need for manual inspection and maintenance while enhancing tyre sustainability.
