AI use cases driving AI PC growth for Lenovo

For Rajesh Thadani, Lenovo’s Asia Pacific One Channel Leader, the focus for the tech vendor now is to fuel and capture the demand for AI PC.

Lenovo continues to lead the PC market, both globally and in Asia Pacific. According to IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Personal Computing Device Tracker, there were 68.4 million PC shipments during the second quarter of 2025, marking a 6.5% growth from the prior year.

While globally Lenovo is the number one PC brand with a 24.6% market share, the market share for AI PCs is higher globally as well. For Rajesh Thadani, Lenovo’s Asia Pacific One Channel Leader, the focus for the tech vendor now is to fuel and capture the demand for AI PC.

“We definitely feel that the momentum is picking up quite dramatically. Most of our growth in the last quarter has come in because of the launch of the new edition of premium products that we have launched, whether it is our Aura edition, our Yoga machines, our gaming machines, there is a lot of momentum around that,” Thadani said.

At the same time, Thadani also pointed out that Lenovo will be focusing on the introduction of more cost-effective solutions, which would make AI PCs even more affordable.

“So, with more introduction from our OEM partners like Qualcomm, AMD, Intel, it hits those sweet price points, which possibly will help us drive higher adoption rates when this comes to life. So, clearly, we feel that we are still going to leverage a lot more scale on the AI PC,” Thadani added.

With the Windows 10 end of life driving the PC update cycle, Thadani highlighted that countries like Japan are seeing a faster jump in sales compared to other markets. With 250 million Windows 10 PCs still in use, Thadani believes there is an opportunity happening, and it would be coming through even more as the time goes by.

“There's also a lot more of these replacement demand that would come from the post-COVID-19 shipment peak. We have so many PCs which are now older than four years, which will create substantial opportunities for us in the years to come. So, clearly, in AI PCs coupled with Windows 10 end of life and coupled with the refresh opportunity together would become a huge opportunity for us to go capture and still continue to scale our PC business,” Thadani added.

Driving AI PC growth

Thadani also believes that while that are many AI use cases coming through, organizations are still only scratching the surface.

“When you talk about use cases around customer support, use cases around retail, use cases around manufacturing, AI is definitely helping to improve, transform the way business is happening and also improve productivity. When you talk about AI, you're talking about hybrid AI. And we're talking about personal AI, we're talking about enterprise AI, and we're talking about public AI. Clearly, in each of the spaces, from a Lenovo perspective, we have that portfolio from pocket to cloud, as we keep calling it, from selling of phones to selling solutions for cloud service providers, enterprise solutions, we have all of it in under one umbrella. So, that's where we have that portfolio,” Thadani explained.

However, when it comes to customers, everyone is at different stages of execution.

“You can see a lot more investments being committed to AI transformation. But of course, everybody is a little watchful from a perspective of saying, what does the ROI look like? Of course, with all these windows, AI PC with co-pilot, from a personal perspective, we're already starting to see a lot more adoption. But people would start seeing the benefits sooner than later, for them to be convinced, you need a PC to become a lot more powerful. And you should have those PCs enabled to be provided with 40 plus TOPs. This will become a little more important from an AI processing load,” Thadani said.

As the AI application ventures, Thadani believes organizations will start seeing the benefit of these coming in soon with the adoption of the AI PC.

“And people are all watching, waiting to see how much they can see that benefits coming to life for them to be able to invest a lot more. And the same applies to our various use cases. People are adopting and seeing it, and clearly, they're seeing benefits. So, the penetration is improving, and we're very hopeful that this will only scale from where it is right now,” Thadani concluded.
