Cloudera expands partnerships in India and Indonesia

Cloudera is working with Krutrim, India’s sovereign cloud platform, to power large-scale analytics and data lake workloads for Ola on Kutrim Cloud as well as partnering Bank Negara Indonesia to scale AI innovation across the enterprise.

At Cloudera Evolve 25 in Singapore, Cloudera announced two big partnerships as it looks to build its presence in the Asia Pacific region. First, Cloudera will be working with Krutrim, India’s sovereign cloud platform, to power large-scale analytics and data lake workloads for Ola on Kutrim Cloud. Second, Cloudera is deepening its partnership with Bank Negara Indonesia to scale AI across the enterprise.

The announcements marks Cloudera’s strength in the region as it continues to innovate and bring solutions to customers to simplify the entire data management process. The data management vendor also announced the latest release of Cloudera Data Services, which brings private AI on premises and giving enterprises secure, GPU-accelerated generative AI capabilities behind their firewall.

Earlier this week, Cloudera also announced its acquisition of Taikun, a leading platform provider for managing Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. The acquisition will see Cloudera accelerate deployment and delivery of the complete Cloudera platform, all through a unified control plane.

Partnership with Krutrim

As a sovereign cloud platform, data management is imperative for Krutrim. Part of the Ola Group in India, Krutrim will leverage Cloudera’s capabilities to harness the full potential of data and AI to drive business transformation, improve customer experience, and support the development of advanced data engineering.

Currently, Krutrim has developed solutions to process large-scale datasets in real time from a variety of data sources, enabling faster and accurate intelligence for Ola by levegraring Cloudera’s data platform and consulting services. The platform’s scalability and security empower Krutrim to deliver AI powered data lake solutions to businesses, startups, and researchers across India.

The Indian sovereign cloud is also hoping to build a vertically integrated cloud infrastructure designed for enterprise-scale needs, spanning compute, storage, data management, and AI-powered end applications designed for the Indian market.

"We are focused on building India’s cloud with deep integrated capabilities across infrastructure, data, and AI to better serve the unique needs of the Indian market,” said Navendu Agarwal, Senior Vice President and Head of Business, Krutrim.

Agarwal added the partnership with Cloudera will give clients the scalability and performance to advance data lake use cases with confidence and empower businesses to create and package cost effective solutions on India's own sovereign cloud.

For Mayank Baid, Regional Vice President, India & South Asia, Cloudera, Krutrim’s vision to create a robust AI infrastructure for India aligns perfectly with Cloudera’s mission to enable trusted enterprise AI through data.

“The partnership reinforces Cloudera’s position as a preferred partner for data-driven transformation in India’s rapidly evolving technology landscape and the development underscores Krutrim’s commitment to building an enterprise-grade, India-first cloud that meets the high demands of enterprises,” said Baid.

Partnership with Bank Negara Indonesia

For Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI), by leveraging Cloudera’s open, hybrid data platform, BNI is streamlining its AI supply chain, bringing together data ingestion, governance, analytics, and machine learning into a single cohesive environment.

As one of the first adopters Cloudera AI inferencing that is built on NVIDIA NIM microservices, BNI relies on the on-premises service to ensure secure, reliable deployment of open-source large language models (LLMs) on NVIDIA accelerated computing. This empowers BNI to scale generative AI securely while maintaining full control over sensitive data.

BNI expects full deployment by the end of 2025 and is currently working closely with Cloudera and NVIDIA technology to ensure performance, compliance, and resilience at every step.

"We are proud to be among the first financial institutions adopting Cloudera’s AI Inference service. This technology gives us the infrastructure to scale our generative AI ambitions securely and efficiently, while staying compliant with Indonesia’s evolving regulatory landscape," said Toto Prasetio, Chief Information Officer of BNI.

"It’s a major step forward in our goal to deliver smarter, faster, and more responsible digital banking services to Indonesians,” added Prasetio.

According to Prasetio, BNI picked Cloudera for its strong alignment with Indonesia’s regulatory requirements and its ability to support enterprise-scale AI. Its AI and machine learning capabilities, coupled with an open-source foundation, allows BNI to scale predictive analytics, fraud detection, and customer personalization efficiently and securely.

“We are excited to deepen our partnership with BNI as they pioneer the next phase of AI-powered banking in Indonesia,” said Remus Lim (pictured above), Senior Vice President for Asia Pacific and Japan at Cloudera.

“By adopting Cloudera’s AI Inference and unified data platform, BNI is leading the way in securely operationalizing generative AI at scale. This collaboration underscores our commitment to empowering Indonesia’s financial institutions with trusted, scalable, and regulatory-ready AI infrastructure,” added Lim.
