Cohesity appoints tech industry veteran to lead sales in ASEAN
Prior to assuming her new role as Vice President of Sales for the ASEAN region at Cohesity, Lim Hsin Yin was the Managing Director for Singapore for SAS.
Cohesity has appointed Lim Hsin Yin as its new Vice President of Sales for the ASEAN region. Hsin Yin is expected to lead Cohesity’s overall business strategy in the region in the new role. This includes overseeing sales operations as well as the company’s growth strategy across Southeast Asia.
With over 30 years of experience in the tech industry, Lim joins Cohesity from SAS, where she last held the role of Managing Director for Singapore. During her time at SAS, Lim spearheaded the organization’s business transformation agenda. This includes ensuring SAS achieved significant gains in market share with accelerated adoption of AI and predictive analytics solutions by customers.
Lim was also previously attached to Dell EMC for 11 years in Singapore as the financial services director, before assuming regional leadership roles for mid-market sales across ASEAN and Korea and cloud and data storage business for Singapore and Malaysia. Lim’s leadership witnessed the sales and channel teams consistently exceed their business revenue targets for consecutive years. Before joining Dell EMC, Hsin Yin was the Managing Director for Avaya in Singapore and held leadership positions at IBM in software and financial services businesses.
Commenting on her new role, Lim believes success in cybersecurity requires organizations to fortify their cyber resilience, as cyber criminals continue to exploit the use of modern tools to increase the frequency, speed and scale of their attacks. She said the growing adoption of modern technologies, such as AI, has provided organisations with the capability to drive efficiency and innovation but demands constant vigilance to address data security and regulatory requirements.
As such, Lim believes the ever-evolving threat landscape makes it more important than ever for organizations to put cyber security and cyber resilience at the forefront of their digital transformation journey, to ensure data is always available and protected.
“I look forward to leading the ASEAN team to bolster our customers’ cyber resilience and data management capabilities so that they can focus on achieving positive business outcomes and unlock the immense potential of AI to turn data into a competitive advantage,” said Lim.
Meanwhile, Mark Nutt, Senior Vice President, Sales, International Region at Cohesity believes that this is an exciting time for Cohesity as they deliver their commitment to drive industry-leading cyber resilience solutions for data security with differentiated AI capabilities.
“I’m very pleased to welcome Hsin Yin to lead our ASEAN sales team and expand the significant growth we have seen across all the individual ASEAN markets in recent years. I am especially looking forward to welcoming her to the International Leadership team and sharing her experience of growing market share across Cloud infrastructure, AI and Data Analytics, and Enterprise Software at SAS and Dell EMC. Her exceptional track record is based on creating trust and sales excellence by leading diverse, high-performance teams,” said Nutt.
Nutt also pointed out that all of these directly align with Cohesity’s values and priorities. He believes customers, partners, and employees will benefit greatly from Lim’s commitment and personal approach.
Lim’s contribution to the tech industry also goes beyond the office as she spends time mentoring peers and championing social causes. Lim is also the Chairwoman of the SGTech AI Skills and Training Committee and in industry councils.
A leader in AI-powered data security, Cohesity has been restructuring its operations in Southeast Asia, especially after closing its takeover of Veritas and combining the company’s enterprise data protection business with its own offerings. The takeover has since made Cohesity the world’s largest data protection software provider by market share, serving over 12,000 customers.
Sanjay Poonen, Cohesity CEO, was in the region in December 2024 to meet up with the teams in Singapore. In a LinkedIn post, Poonen stated that he visited employees, customers and partners in India, the UAE and Singapore.
“The momentum was infectious! Employees are super engaged, we have the best and biggest team in each location. Customers and partners validate that we have the best platform, and most differentiated vision for the future of AI-powered Data Security!” said Poonen in his post.
