Elastic unveils new Vice President for APJ

Sanjay Deshmukh joins Elastic as the Vice President for the Asia Pacific and Japan region.

Sanjay Deshmukh has joined Elastic as the Vice President for the Asia Pacific and Japan region. An industry veteran with over two decades of experience with various tech companies in the region, Deshmukh has led organizations through start-up, change and accelerated growth and built successful businesses in APJ region in emerging technologies like data, AI, cloud and mobility.

Deshmukh will be responsible for scaling and driving growth of the regional business, expanding the partner ecosystem, and strengthening relationships with customers. Deshmukh has a successful track record of delivering significant growth for enterprise software organizations in APJ.

“The Asia-Pacific Japan region is a high-growth market fueled by the demand for meaningful AI innovation’” said Matthew Day, vice president and general manager of International at Elastic.

Day added that Deshmukh’s proven expertise in leading enterprise software organizations through periods of rapid growth and his ability to build high-performance teams will continue to build on Elastic’s success.

“As our customers seek ways to leverage their data for GenAI use cases and consolidate their search, security, and observability needs onto a single platform, Elastic is uniquely placed to support them,” said Day.

Prior to joining Elastic, Deshmukh was Senior Regional Vice President for ASEAN and India at Snowflake. Deshmukh led the Snowflake business to build and scale in the region, growing up to 10X times in just under four years. He also enabled Snowflake to be a dominant and undisputed leader in the Data and AI space by working with a variety of customers and partners.

Deshmukh was also Vice President and Managing Director for Southeast Asia and Korea at VMware. He also had stints at Citrix and SAP in India.

Commenting on his new role, Deshmukh said that he is looking forward to partner with the team and will focus on helping customers in the region accelerate their business transformation through search powered AI as well as improving resiliency and enhancing security.
