Geoff Soon joins Mistral AI to lead APAC expansion

Geoff Soon, who joins Mistral AI as Vice President of Revenue for APAC from Snowflake, aims to grow business in APAC.

Geoff Soon has joined Mistral AI as Vice President of Revenue, APAC. The industry veteran, with over two decades of experience in the tech industry joins Mistral AI from Snowflake after serving at MD for ASEAN for the past five years.

Soon’s previous experiences also included roles in Cloudera, Cisco and BMC Software.

“Mistral AI's mission to make frontier AI ubiquitous by providing open, portable, and customizable solutions resonates deeply with me. The ability to deploy these capabilities across a customer's choice of public or private cloud also empowers them with the control and security they need,” said Soon in a LinkedIn post.

Soon also mentioned that he is excited to join an organization with a strong commitment to investing in the APAC region in terms of resources and business focus.

“I must acknowledge that this opportunity would not have been possible without the solid foundation established by William El Sayed and the rest of the team in the Singapore market,” added Soon.

Soon is hoping to achieve more success for Mistral AI to create a world-class APAC organization.

The French-start up that continues to innovate in AI, Mistral AI has established strong partnerships around the world. The OpenAI and DeepSeek rival recently announced partnerships with Cisco to transform the customer experience with AI. The first of several AI agents being developed by Cisco with Mistral AI as a strategic technology partner will help drive Cisco’s Customer Experience move towards an Agentic-AI-Led future.

Mistral AI is also working with Capgemini and Microsoft for GenAI offerings on Microsoft Azure since the start of 2024.
