Simon Tung joins Kaspersky to lead ASEAN push
The former GM for Crayon joins Kaspersky after a short career break and will oversee all commercial operations, business development, and go-to-market strategies for ASEAN and AEC.
Kaspersky has appointed Simon Tung as its new General Manager for ASEAN and AEC (Asia Emerging Countries). In his new role, Tung will helm the cybersecurity vendor’s strategic direction and business operations across the region, focusing on empowering organizations and governments to navigate an increasingly complex threat landscape.
Based in Singapore, Tung will also oversee all commercial operations, business development, and go-to-market strategies for ASEAN and AEC. His primary focus will be on accelerating growth, building key partnerships, and enhancing the delivery of Kaspersky’s innovative solutions to meet the evolving needs of customers and partners in the digital era.
Prior to joining Kaspkersky, Tung had served as General Manager at Crayon before taking a short career break. With over three decades of experience in the tech ecosystem, he also had leadership roles at ForgeRock, Backbase, SAP and Microsoft.
Commenting on his new role, Tung said his focus will be on translating Kaspersky’s global expertise into local impact, which means investing deeply in the team, strengthening the partner ecosystem, and ensuring solutions address the unique challenges businesses face in the region.
“The digital potential of ASEAN countries is immense, but it is contingent on trust and security. Kaspersky has an unparalleled global expertise in threat intelligence and a robust portfolio to address these very challenges which is why I am excited to lead this team and build stronger regional partnerships,” added Tung.
In a LinkedIn post, Tung also stated that he joined Kaspersky because he believes the cybersecurity vendor has a “world-class technology portfolio that stands shoulder to shoulder with many of the top players in the industry, and in some areas, even goes further. That makes this opportunity all the more interesting — to grow the business, strengthen trust in the brand, and showcase the real value of its technology to customers and partners across the region.”
For Adrian Hia, Managing Director for Asia Pacific at Kaspersky, ASEAN remains a dynamic and strategic market for Kaspersky.
“The combination of the region’s digital ambition and persistent cyber risks, from targeted ransomware against critical infrastructure to financial phishing, creates a powerful imperative for our mission here. We are investing heavily in the region over the next three years to strengthen our presence, deepen our partnerships, and expand our solutions across the region. Simon brings an expert blend of strategic vision and on-the-ground execution experience. I trust that under his leadership, we will not only achieve our business objectives but also significantly enhance the region’s cyber resilience,” said Hia.
