Sunny Gandhi to lead AMD’s commercial channel business in APJ

Apart from overseeing channel enablement Sunny Gandhi will drive operational excellence and execute sales strategies across AMD’s extensive commercial channel ecosystem in the region.

AMD has appointed Sunny Gandhi as Senior Director of Commercial Channel for Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ). With over 15 years of leadership experience in the IT industry, Gandhi will oversee channel enablement in the region.

His role will also include driving operational excellence and execute sales strategies across AMD’s extensive commercial channel ecosystem in the region. Gandhi had previously held senior positions at leading OEMs, distributors, and resellers in the Asia Pacific region, managing diverse channel, product, and category management portfolios.

Commenting on his new role, Gandi said that he is thrilled to join AMD at such a pivotal moment and is looking forward to partnering with AMD’s world-class team and channel partners to deliver best-in-class experiences that drive innovation, operational rigor, and shared growth.

Sunny’s leadership will be central to advancing AMD’s commercial channel strategy in APJ. This appointment underscores AMD’s commitment to expanding its channel organization that delivers exceptional value for its partners. By bringing in seasoned executives and deepening collaboration across AMD’s partner network, the company is reinforcing the foundation of its channel ecosystem for continued growth.

According to Nick Lazaridis, Senior Vice President of Sales, AMD APJ, Sunny’s reputation as a trusted, results-driven leader makes him the ideal choice to lead the transformation of AMD’s commercial channel ecosystem.

“His proven ability to foster collaboration and drive change management within partner networks will be instrumental in expanding AMD’s commercial reach across APJ,” said Lazaridis.

AMD continues to grow its presence in the region as well. With new R&D facilities in Taiwan and Malaysia and a new office in Taiwan as well as plants in the region, the semiconductor company will be looking to enhance its supply chain in the region as it continues to support customers around the globe.

The partner ecosystem will be essential for AMD, especially as it looks to deal with the mounting challenges in the industry, be it from supply chain to geopolitical issues.

AMD announced a quarter revenue of US$7.7 billion earlier this month for the second quarter of 2025. AMD stated that its second quarter results were impacted by the U.S. Government's export control on our AMD Instinct MI308 data center GPU products.

“We delivered strong revenue growth in the second quarter led by record server and PC processor sales,” said Dr. Lisa Su, AMD Chair and CEO. “We are seeing robust demand across our computing and AI product portfolio and are well positioned to deliver significant growth in the second half of the year, driven by the ramp of our AMD Instinct MI350 series accelerators and ongoing EPYC and Ryzen processor share gains.”
