Vinod Joseph has joined Singtel Group as Vice President for Cloud & Enterprise Architecture. The networking industry veteran with over 25 years of experience has moved on from VMware after serving across various roles for the past seven years.

In a LinkedIn post, Joseph stated that working with VMware during his tenure has been an extremely rewarding experience. This includes working with some of the brightest minds and top-notch leaders in the industry.

Joseph was made CTO in APJ for Software Defined Edge and AI Business after Broadcom closed the VMware acquisition. Before that, he was CTO for APJ and China for the Telco and Edge Business Unit.

“I had the opportunity to lead some of the largest and extremely critical engagements with our key Telco customers around multi-cloud adoption, app modernization, telco network transformation, and the insertion of AI for numerous use-cases including the Edge,” stated Joseph.

Joseph added that during his time at VMware, they had jointly pioneered key technology innovations with partners and customers. Acknowledging that the industry is extremely intrinsic, Joseph believes he will definitely be crossing paths with his peers in the future.

Some of his accomplishments include leading Key Service Provider Engagements in APJ and China focused on network transformation using Open-V-RAN/SMO & Cloud/Edge native architectures, multi-cloud adoption, and application modernization. Joesph also successfully led some of the earliest 5G Stand Alone, Enterprise 5G, and Mobile Edge Compute wins/deployments within APJ and China, including leading the various phases of incubation, GTM strategy, pre-sales solution architecture, and deployment.

He also thanked several former VMware leaders and executives who have not only provided him with guidance, support and mentorship but also friendship throughout the years.

Moving forward, Joseph said he is looking forward to the next phase of his career and believes “there is no better place than Singtel to be in - given the trajectory of the Telco industry.”

Joseph is just one of the many VMware executives that have moved on from the company following the completion of the acquisition by Broadcom. Since then, several other leaders as well as country managers have either left the company or been made redundant post-acquisition.

Despite the changes in the organization, VMware by Broadcom has been recording profits since the acquisition. Broadcom’s infrastructure software division, which includes VMware software, reached a total of US$6.7 billion in sales during the quarter. This presents a 47 percent increase year over year compared to US$4.6 billion in Q1 2024.
