Kaspersky: Cyber Immunity an effective cybersecurity strategy

The term Cyber Immunity is defined by Kaspersky as a concept of IT and OT systems that are secure by design due to a specific development methodology and architectural requirements

As businesses continue to grapple with high cybersecurity costs from increasing cybersecurity incidents, findings from Kaspersky latest research revealed that 73% of cybersecurity professionals regard Cyber Immunity as an effective strategy for minimizing the capabilities of cybercriminals to penetrate networks and compromise systems.

The research, which collected insights from 850 cybersecurity professionals from the Asia Pacific region, Middle East, Turkey & Africa, Europe, the Americas, as well as Russia also reveal a growing demand for developing secure by design systems instead of relying solely on additional cybersecurity solutions.

The term Cyber Immunity is defined by Kaspersky as a concept of IT and OT systems that are secure by design due to a specific development methodology and architectural requirements, and have inherit resilience against cyberattacks, minimizing the costs associated with external cybersecurity solutions.

“The findings confirm a shift we have long anticipated: organizations are moving beyond reactive tools and demanding systems that are secure by design. With our Cyber Immunity approach to creating secure by design systems, we offer the next step—not just detecting threats, but structurally preventing them,” said Dmitry Lukiyan, Head of the KasperskyOS Business Unit.

Findings from the study also showed that 85% of respondents are familiar with the Cyber Immunity term and understand its correct meaning. 30% of respondents feel that Cyber Immunity could also significantly reduce the frequency of cyberattacks, while 35% feel it can minimize the negative impacts of such attacks.

Given the convergence of IT and OT security most organizations are looking into, Kaspersky has also expanded its KasperskyOS from embedded use to a general-purpose secure platform. Initially designed as a platform for building cyber-immune solutions for specific industries that require strict protection, KasperskyOS is now recognized in a broader context across all sectors utilizing modern IT systems.

“We are helping customers build resilient digital environments that are easier to manage, safer to operate, and ready for tomorrow’s challenges,” added Lukiyan.

Echoing Lukiyan’s sentiments is Eugene Kaspersky, CEO of Kasperksy Lab. Kaspersky was also in Singapore for the launch of the report as well as be part of the GITEX Asia 2025 summit.

“The reality is that the bad guys are getting more professional. Unfortunately, that’s the rising complexity of cyber-attacks. It's all the time, from the very beginning in the late 1980s till today. Cyber criminals come from everyone, including state-sponsored operations. The tools they use are getting more complicated as well,” said Kaspersky.

Meanwhile, according to Adrian Hia, Managing Director, APJ for Kaspersky, customers in the Asia Pacific region are understanding the importance of converging IT and OT. Hia said that many companies in the region are expecting the CISO to not only manage the IT systems but also manage the OT systems.

“In order to build that resiliency, I think that is something that is a very big challenge for a lot of our customers. Coming from cyber awareness, cyber education, to cyber resiliency, and ultimately to cyber immunity, is something that we are chartering in a journey with our customers,” said Hia.

Hia highlighted that Kaspersky’s Open Cyber Management Platform, a single plane of glass able to manage both IT and OT assets, will be the next trend, especially in being able to help customers to manage their assets in a totally better way.

Growth in Asia Pacific

According to Hia, the cybersecurity vendor has experienced tremendous growth in the region with some markets even recording double digit growth.

“From the Greater China region to Southeast Asia and India, we have increased our capabilities by coverage, by support, and even by in-house researchers and in-house analysts to make sure that we can provide you the best. 2024 was not only a record year for our company, but also a record year for many countries in Asia Pacific,” explained Hia.

Hia also stated that Kaspersky has a presence in 33 countries in the Asia Pacific region, which has a population size of about 3.9 billion. To cater to the customers in these countries, Hia pointed out that Kaspersky has over 3,000 transacting partners in the region.

“Partners continue to be a very important strategy of us here in APAC. When we talk about partnership, it's not about just having partners to be able to transact. We now have managed services partners and MSSP partners, where they are also enhancing their services' capabilities. We are also going to deploy partners, where we are training our partners to be able to do implementation. This will continue to be one of the important things that we are going to do in 2025 and beyond,” added Hia.

For Kaspersky, the growth solidifies its presence in the industry as a strong cybersecurity vendor.

“We were very well known as a consumer company. We then moved towards small and medium businesses. However, in the last two years, we have improved a lot in our B2B portfolio. We are no longer just a B2B vendor. We have complete XDR Solutions, we have industrial security, and we have our own CM. So, please learn more about our new products to boost your sales and to guarantee much better protection for your customers,” concluded Kaspersky.
