Netskope opens data center in Malaysia, expands to Indonesia
“These deployments are reinforcing our commitment to delivering excellent local support and service delivery to current and future users in Indonesia and Malaysia,” says Kunal Jha, Regional Director for Asia at Netskope.
Netskope has launched a new data center in Kuala Lumpur, its first in Malaysia, as well as the deployment of a local go-to-market team in Indonesia. The modern security and networking vendor stated that these initiatives come to further improve technical delivery and human support for organizations using Netskope in both countries.
The announcement comes as Netskope Co-founder and CEO Sanjay Beri said the vendor is seeing strong demand for consolidation on its secure access service edge (SASE) platform while also landing a number of major customers following its initial public offering recently.
The Netskope One platform consolidates powerful cybersecurity capabilities, including access control, threat protection, and web, data, cloud, and AI security, with modern networking capabilities. This converged SASE architecture allows organizations to unify their security, monitor their entire network, and manage it all from a single interface, all while preserving performance
Prior to the new data center, Netskope has previously expanded its footprint in Asia by deploying teams in the Philippines, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
As the vendor looks to enhance its global go-to-market strategy, Indonesia represents an immense opportunity. Netskope is continuing to work with local distributors and partners, while the deployment of a local team offers Indonesian customers additional support throughout their customer journey. It also brings additional sales, technical, and training support to its local partner ecosystem, empowering partners to deliver the highest standards of services.
A few weeks ago, Netskope announced a new channel partnership with cybersecurity and network performance value-added distributor PT Securite Asia Indonesia. As the Indonesian arm of ABP Securite, the agreement allows PT Securite Asia Indonesia to distribute Netskope’s security and networking technology through its managed partnerships in Indonesia.
According to Kunal Jha, Regional Director for Asia at Netskope (pictured above), the deployments are reinforcing Netskope’s commitment to delivering excellent local support and service delivery to current and future users in Indonesia and Malaysia.
“Organizations in those markets require modern security and networking capabilities that both accelerate and secure digital transformation, without any compromises between those priorities,” said Jha.
The new data center in Malaysia accelerates the delivery of Netskope One’s security services to local customers, allowing Malaysian organizations to keep their users and the data they handle secure regardless of their location and setup, and address their data sovereignty needs. By bringing its platform physically as close as possible to Malaysian users, Netskope helps them eliminate typical trade-offs between security and network performance.
The Kuala Lumpur data center will be part of Netskope’s global NewEdge infrastructure, a private network of more than 120 data centers. The network already has 25 across Asia and the 12th in the world in terms of Internet Exchange participation. Every data center has full compute capabilities for security traffic processing and offers all SASE services.
The unique architecture of NewEdge includes Localization Zones, which extend NewEdge coverage to over 220 countries and territories, providing a seamless local experience for users accessing from anywhere in the world. For example, users in Indonesia egressing via the new Kuala Lumpur data center in Malaysia, can continue to get content in the appropriate local Indonesian language, search results tailored to the users' actual location, as well as avoiding issues with geo-fenced applications.
Ng May Ching, Chief Information Officer of Malaysian telecommunications leader Maxis, which is a Netskope customer commented, "By leveraging Netskope's platform, we have strengthened our data protection capabilities, ensuring that our employees benefit from a consistent and secure experience, whether they are working in the office or remotely. We are thrilled that Netskope is strengthening security and data protection with the new data centre, enhancing a secure and seamless employee experience."
“At CTOS, we operate across critical sectors such as financial services and telecommunications, handling highly sensitive data every day. Protecting this data is a fundamental responsibility, and we cannot afford downtime or latency in our security processes. Netskope’s decision to establish a dedicated data center in Malaysia is a significant step forward—it enhances performance, supports data sovereignty, and helps future-proof our compliance as regulations increasingly emphasize localization and security,” commented Sivanathan Subramaniam, Group Chief Risk & Compliance Officer at CTOS Digital Bhd, a Netskope customer.
