DXC Technology’s partnership ecosystem in APAC explained

Following the launch of a new SAP practice in Japan, Holland Barry, Global Field Chief Technology Officer for DXC Technology says the systems integrator continues to evaluate and invest in key growth markets in the region.

With a strong growing presence across the Asia Pacific region, DXC Technology continues to provide technology to many of the region’s largest enterprises and public sector clients. Known for its technology independence, deep industry expertise, and extensive partner network, the system integrator’s focus is on simplifying, modernizing, and securing clients' critical IT systems and operations.

According to Holland Barry, Global Field Chief Technology Officer for DXC Technology, DXC continues to evaluate and invest in key growth markets in the region. In August this year, DXC launched its new SAP practice in Japan, which Barry states is a prime example of this strategy.

“This move directly addresses a critical need in the Japanese market for enterprises looking to modernize their legacy SAP systems and transform their businesses, particularly with the looming 2027 deadline to transition to SAP S/4HANA®. You can expect to see us continue to make strategic investments that align with the specific needs and technology adoption trends of key markets across APAC,” said Barry.

In an email interview with CRN Asia, Barry shares more about DXC’s presence in the region, partner ecosystem as well as the challenges in the region.

Can you tell us a bit more about the relationship and partnership DXC has with other vendors in the region?

Our partnership ecosystem is a cornerstone of our strategy. As a technology-independent provider, we focus on understanding our customers' desired business outcomes first, and then we identify the best technology to help them achieve those goals. This approach is supported by strong, strategic relationships with the world's leading technology providers.

In the region and globally, we collaborate closely with partners like SAP, AWS, VMware, Microsoft, and Oracle. Our recent partnership announcement with Boomi, the leader in AI-driven automation, is aimed at accelerating enterprise modernization and the adoption of agentic AI. Through joint go-to-market initiatives and a new Boomi Centre of Excellence (COE), we are co-creating solutions that help customers simplify their modernization journey and prepare for an AI-first world. We also have a very strong partnership with ServiceNow, where we've established a Centre of Excellence to combine our industry expertise with their GenAI solutions to help clients unlock high-impact use cases of AI at scale.

As a Systems Integrator, what are the biggest challenges you're facing in APAC currently, and how are you dealing with them?

The biggest challenges we see for systems integrators in APAC are directly linked to the rapid pace of technological change and the growing complexity of IT environments. Clients are looking to modernize, but they face challenges like managing technical debt, ensuring data security and privacy, and integrating new technologies like AI with their existing legacy systems.

It’s also important to recognize that these challenges often differ from country to country across APAC, and these differences can significantly influence technology adoption decisions. For example:

At DXC, we work through these country-specific challenges by tailoring our strategies to each market. Our approach combines:

By combining regional expertise with global scale, DXC helps clients navigate diverse national landscapes while building secure, modern, and resilient IT foundations for the future.

How's DXC's partnership ecosystem looking like in the region?

Our partnership ecosystem in APAC is vibrant and built on the principle of co-creation. We select our partners based on strategic alignment, technical excellence, and the ability to create tangible value for our clients. It's not just about reselling products; it's about joint innovation and delivering integrated solutions.

Our Innovation Centres serve as co-creation hubs where DXC experts, customers, and partners come together to test and scale ideas. This model allows us to bring global innovations to a local context. For instance, DXC’s AI Workbench brings together leading partner capabilities, including those from AWS, NVIDIA and Microsoft, to help organizations rapidly explore and deploy AI use cases tailored to their specific industry needs. This approach ensures our recommendations are tailored to our clients' needs and that we can reduce the cost and risk of implementing new technologies while accelerating time to value.

What trends are you seeing in APAC when it comes to tech adoption? And how is this influencing your strategy in the region?

We are seeing a few key trends shaping the tech landscape in APAC.

Enterprises are moving beyond just generative AI to "agentic" systems — autonomous AI agents that can proactively make decisions and adapt in real time. This is a game-changer for automating processes and driving operational efficiency. Our partnership with Boomi, focused on Agentic AI, is a direct response to this trend.

The push to modernise and simplify IT is accelerating cloud adoption across APAC. Organizations are looking for partners who can support complex, mission-critical migrations not just to public cloud platforms like AWS and Microsoft Azure, but also to modernised private an hybrid cloud environments. Enterprises increasingly need flexible models that allow them to run workloads across multiple environments securely and cost-effectively, and DXC helps them design and execute these strategies end-to-end.

There is also a growing emphasis on AI governance, data privacy, and ethical frameworks. Businesses want to ensure their AI initiatives are secure, compliant, and transparent. At the same time, it is increasingly important that these initiatives demonstrate clear ROI, with defensible cost savings and measurable revenue-generating KPIs. We are building our strategy to address these concerns head-on, with security, trust, and tangible business outcomes at the forefront of every solution we deliver.

These trends are directly influencing our strategy to be an operating partner that not only helps clients modernize but also integrates next-generation technologies securely and at scale.

Lastly, with the new SAP practice in Japan to assist Japanese enterprises with business transformation and meeting requirements for process modernisation, will we be seeing more of such announcements in the region?

Yes, you can absolutely expect to see more announcements like the one in Japan. The launch of our dedicated SAP practice there is a clear signal of our commitment to strategic, in-market investments that address our clients' most pressing needs.

This SAP practice leverages our 35+ years of experience with SAP and our global team of experts to help Japanese enterprises tackle the modernization challenge. We are focusing on industries like Manufacturing, Automotive, and Retail to help them improve efficiency, optimize inventory, and enhance customer satisfaction.

This targeted, industry-specific approach is one that we are keen to replicate. As we identify similar needs and opportunities across other key markets in the region, we will continue to invest in specialized practices and local expertise to better serve our clients and support their business transformation journeys.
