LifeTech partners Kyndryl to transform security operations center

The MSSP will establish the first in-country security operations center on the public cloud in Malaysia with Kyndryl, ensuring data residency compliance and low cybersecurity costs.

Kyndryl has entered into an agreement with LifeTech Group to establish the first in-country Security Operations Center (SOC) on public cloud in Malaysia. The next generation SOC is expected to enable enterprises across Malaysia to keep their data secure and in the country on the public cloud.

Apart from storing data locally, which is in line with Malaysia’s data residency compliance requirements, the partnership also sees the reduction in the cost of security operations by up to 40%. With the collaboration, LifeTech’s cybersecurity capabilities will be elevated to help customers assess and benchmark cyber resilience maturity, address emerging threats, gain greater visibility into vulnerabilities.

A pioneer in managed cyber security services (MSSP) in Malaysia since 1989, LifeTech serves a broad spectrum of industries in the region, including financial services, healthcare, government, manufacturing, e-commerce, retail, telecommunications, and education. In addition to the SOC transformation project, Kyndryl is partnering with LifeTech to deliver essential cybersecurity services including threat intelligence, incident response, and managed detection and response.

KK Loh, Chairman and CEO of LifeTech believes the collaboration with Kyndryl marks a significant step in enhancing the MSSP’s ability to safeguard organizations in Malaysia, while keeping their critical data in-country.

“By transforming our Security Operations Center using a next-generation unified platform, we are empowering our customers across multiple industries including National Critical Information Infrastructure, to strengthen their cyber resilience, respond swiftly to threats, and navigate an increasingly complex security landscape with confidence, while significantly reducing costs,” said Loh.

Taking a deeper look into the partnership, LifeTech and Kyndryl will implement a world-class next generation SOC platform, adopting the Kyndryl Security Intelligence and Automation framework to enhance detection, response, and operational efficiencies for organizations in Malaysia and across the region.

The world’s largest IT infrastructure services provider will provide an innovative security operations transformation program. This includes the migration and integration of customer platforms and threat intelligence to enable robust monitoring, automation, and analytics on a single platform to provide lightning-fast searches, queries, and investigations, while reducing cost of on-premises security infrastructure and tools or platforms.

Apart from that, Kyndryl will enable a shift from foundational security operational needs to advanced capabilities like proactive risk mitigation planning, perception management, skills uplift, and continuous improvement. Organizations will be able to have a full lifecycle approach to addressing cyber threats through optimized services in risk assessment, compliance, and threat visibility.

Businesses can also opt for Zero Trust Services to safeguard critical business assets through identity, endpoint, and cloud security solutions as well as advanced detection, response capabilities, automation, and incident forensics.

Kyndryl and LifeTech will also offer Security Operations as a Platform. This service provides unified visibility and control across IT environments through tools like SOAR (Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response), designed to improve incident response, reduce risk, and enhance operational efficiency.

For Effendi Azmi Hashim, Managing Director, Kyndryl Malaysia and Indonesia, the partnership reflects their shared vision to deliver innovative, scalable, and resilient cybersecurity solutions that help LifeTech and Kyndryl customers protect critical business data and applications in a security-rich infrastructure using in-country cloud infrastructure.

“The collaboration emphasizes the adoption of innovative global security standards and state-of-the-art security platforms on public cloud, empowering LifeTech to deliver and scale proactive, efficient and robust security operations. This initiative with Kyndryl is a significant step forward in addressing the dynamic and complex nature of cybersecurity challenges in Malaysia,” said Hashim.

As Southeast Asia’s leading MSSP, LifeTech also provides the region’s first integrated Cognitive Security Operation Center fully embedded with AI and automation to respond to complex incidents. Apart from being an MSSP, LifeTech offers managed network services through its Network Operation Center (NOC) as well as support digital transformation initiatives for businesses in the region.
