Mistral AI expands partnerships and collaborations in Singapore as it eyes regional growth

Mistral AI is prioritizing collaborations in Singapore to build a strong foundation for infrastructure and deployment in Southeast Asia as the company explores opportunities across the region, Arthur Mensch, CEO and co-founder of Mistral AI states.

It’s been slightly over a year since Mistral AI established its presence in Singapore. In the past year, the French-headquartered generative AI company has grown its workforce in region, with Geoff Soon leading the charge as VP Revenue in APAC.

Following a year of growth, Mistral AI recently announced partnership with HTX and collaborations with Singtel, NCS and ST Engineering, reflecting the company’s commitment to helping progress Singapore’s National AI strategy.

The partnerships and collaborations will see local AI capabilities advanced with Mistral AI providing state-of-the art customizable AI solutions to serve Public Services & Education, Healthcare & Sustainability, and Finance, Logistics & Manufacturing.

Taking a deeper look at the partnerships announced, Mistral AI and HTX (Home Team Science and Technology Agency) will collaborate on AI capabilities for Singapore’s public safety. Mistral AI will provide HTX with infrastructure that will support high-performance inference and fine-tuning, as well as a developer toolkit to facilitate rapid, secure application development. The partnership will also see Mistral AI work with HTX to identify innovative technology and engineering solutions to enhance Home Team’s operations and deepen HTX’s technical capabilities through training.

With Singtel, Mistral AI will be working with RE:AI, the sovereign AI cloud business of Singtel Digital InfraCo, to scale AI adoption and develop industry-specific AI use cases across sectors such as financial services, defence, government shared services and healthcare. Both companies are planning to set up an Applied AI Centre of Excellence (CoE) which will serve as a joint engineering hub to co-create secure AI environments, rapidly prototype and deploy solutions.

In partnership with NCS, both companies are working together to deliver advanced AI solutions for organizations operating in highly regulated and secure environments, such as healthcare, transport, and telecommunication. The partnership will see NCS and Mistral AI collaborate to help clients deploy secure, reliable AI solutions that are ready for operational use.

Meanwhile, Mistral AI is expanding its collaboration with ST Engineering to integrate agentic fact-checking capabilities into ST Engineering’s AGIL Trust, a multimodal deepfake and misinformation detection solution, providing public security agencies with two-layer validation.

Growth and expansion beyond Singapore

CRN Asia reached out to Mistral AI to understand more about the partnerships and the company’s plans in the region.

According to Arthur Mensch, CEO and co-founder of Mistral AI, Singapore is at the forefront of innovation, with a strong digital infrastructure and a clear national strategy and regulatory environment around AI.

“Collaborating with leading organizations such as HTX, Singtel, NCS, and ST Engineering allows us to work on mission-critical use cases across public safety, telecommunications, and enterprise environments, among other sectors,” Mensch said.

While Singapore is a primary focus, Mensch shared that the country serves as a strategic hub for regional efforts. He added the Mistral AI is prioritizing collaborations in Singapore to build a strong foundation for infrastructure and deployment in Southeast Asia as the company explores opportunities across the region.

When asked how Mistral AI is looking to deal with the competition in the region, he stated that governments and organizations are looking for AI partners they can trust in an increasingly competitive global landscape.

“Our values and approach around transparency using open-weight AI models have given organizations the control they need to feel comfortable bringing their business and citizens into the age of AI. This positions us well in a market like Singapore, where governance, trust, and security are key priorities. In addition, by working closely with partners like Singtel, NCS, and ST Engineering, we are co-developing solutions to meet local needs across industries and directly supporting Singapore's National AI Strategy,” he added.

Mensch also highlighted that apart from plans to establish a Centre of Excellence in Singapore with Singtel, Mistral AI will also continue to deepen local partnerships to develop industry-specific use cases to advance local AI capabilities.
