Akkasha Sultan is Ping Identity’s new Senior Vice President & General Manager for APJ

A tech industry veteran, Sultan joins Ping Identity after nearly four years at Salesforce.

Ping Identity has appointed Akkasha Sultan as Senior Vice President and General Manager for Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ). The tech industry veteran will be responsible for heading Ping Identity’s growth strategy, customer engagement, and market expansion across the APJ region.

With more than 25 years of tech leadership experience, Sultan was previously at Salesforce and Tableau, having several roles throughout his career there, including Vice President, Agentforce & Data Cloud in ANZ, Area Vice President for key ASEAN markets, and General Manager for Tableau’s Analytics and AI business. Prior to Salesforce, Sultan had about half a decade at Microsoft and spent a decade in Oracle in various senior leadership roles.

In his new role, Sultan will spearhead Ping Identity’s business strategy and market expansion across APJ. This includes overseeing all regional operations, focusing on driving revenue growth and deepening enterprise client relationships as organisations navigate significant digital transformations. He joins as Ping expands its Identity for AI strategy across APJ, helping organizations securely govern AI agents and autonomous workloads alongside human identities.

Commenting on Sultan’s appointment, Adnan Chaudhry, Chief Revenue Officer at Ping Identity stated that Sultan joins Ping Identity in a phase of rapid extension in the region.

“Enterprises across APJ are rapidly moving AI into production, creating new requirements for identity, governance, and trust. Akkasha’s experience scaling high-growth businesses across the region will help accelerate our next phase of growth and support customers as they navigate the AI era,” Chaudry said.

For Sultan, organizations across APJ are rapidly moving from AI experimentation to deployment, and identity and governance will be critical to realizing AI’s value safely.

“I look forward to working with our customers, partners, and teams to help them navigate that transformation while driving growth across the region,” he said.

With identity security becoming increasingly important, Ping Identity will be looking to enable more organizations secure and manage digital identities across customers, employees, partners, and non-human entities in the APJ region.

Earlier this month, the security vendor announced integrations with AWS, Google Cloud and Cloudflare to extend its Runtime Identity into the cloud and edge environments where AI agents are built, deployed, and operated.

Ping Identity defines Runtime Identity as an IAM approach that evaluates and enforces access, permissions, and security guardrails at the exact moment an action occurs. Rather than trusting an identity after a one-time login, it continuously validates every request against real-time context, risk, and centralized policies.
