NetApp appoints Moti Uttam as Malaysia country manager

Moti will lead NetApp’s business operations in Malaysia, focusing on strengthening customer and partner relationships.

NetApp has appointed Moti Uttam as its new Country Manager for Malaysia. In his new role, Uttam will focus on strengthening the vendor’s leadership bench as it expands its role in supporting the nation’s digital transformation and artificial intelligence ambitions.

With Malaysia focused on becoming an AI Nation by 2030, NetApp is hoping to play a crucial role in driving the country’s efforts, especially with local enterprises continuing to invest in data-driven capabilities to drive innovation and productivity.

The intelligent data infrastructure vendor believes Uttam’s appointment will not just boost NetApp’s business operations in Malaysia but also strengthen customer and partner relationships. This includes having a greater focus on expanding into key industry verticals and driving growth across its data management and AI solutions portfolio.

As Malaysia is at a pivotal stage in its digital journey, Uttam believes data plays a central role in enabling the transition towards an AI-driven economy.

Commenting on his new role, Uttam shared that he is honored to take on this mantle at such a pivotal moment for Malaysia.

“The nation’s bold ambitions are propelling us towards an AI-driven economy, and data is at the heart of that transformation,” he said.

For Uttam, the goals will be to not just work closely with customers and partners but also the wider ecosystem to help Malaysian enterprises build intelligent data infrastructure and harness AI securely and at scale.

“With the right data foundations, organizations can unlock innovation while ensuring that deployment is done responsibly and securely,” he added.

An industry veteran with over 25 years of experience, Uttam had previously held leadership roles at global companies such as Hitachi Vantara and Dell EMC, where he was involved in driving growth, market expansion and customer success initiatives. Uttam also served as Technology and Operations Officer of Tao Bin Malaysia, where he was involved in developing a cloud-centric, AI- and IoT-enabled robotic retail platform.

For NetApp Senior Director for ASEAN Angeline Lim, Uttam’s appointment reflects the company’s commitment to supporting Malaysia’s rapidly evolving digital economy and AI ecosystem. She believes that his experience and understanding of the local market will help strengthen NetApp’s ability to support enterprises as they invest in intelligent data foundations.

“Moti’s appointment comes at a time when Malaysia is rapidly advancing its digital economy and scaling national AI capabilities. His deep industry expertise and customer-centric focus will strengthen our role in supporting the country’s digital transformation agenda,” she said.

Angeline added that under Moti’s leadership, NetApp aims to help more organizations realize the full value of data and AI in line with Malaysia’s national priorities.
