How did NVIDIA secure production for Vera Rubin?

At NVIDIA GTC Taipei, Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, announced that NVIDIA Vera Rubin is in full production, with customers expected to get them in the third quarter of the year.

At NVIDIA GTC Taipei, Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, announced that NVIDIA Vera Rubin is in full production. What makes this interesting is that NVIDIA has been able to get the manufacturers in Taiwan to ensure they are capable of meeting the increasing demand for Vera Rubin.

During the media session, Huang stated that NVIDIA has the support of the entire supply chain for them to grow robustly. However, he also stated that there is still a supply constraint.

“The amount of supply that we need in order to grow at the rate and scale that we're growing today, of course all of the world's supply chain is activated to support us. We have enough supply for very robust growth. However, we are a supply constraint. That's the reason why everybody is talking about scarcity. We've worked very hard to align with our partners and plan with our partners,” he said.

For Huang, the supply chain should be as diversified and as redundant capabilities as possible so that the industry can have resilience.

“It’s one of the reasons why Taiwan is such an incredible strategic partner for the United States, because Taiwan is investing in the ecosystem for manufacturing in the United States,” he said.

Huang pointed out that there have been many Taiwanese chip companies that have invested heavily in the US so that the global supply chain could be diversified and resilient. He added that this still does not change the fact that Taiwan remains strong in technology manufacturing, being the epicenter of the ecosystem.

“The companies here are incredibly good at it, and we should be happy for them that they continue being incredibly good at it. We are the largest purchaser of any company for the ecosystem of Taiwan,” he added.

Huang also mentioned that NVIDIA is investing in local talent in Taiwan, with a new facility capable of employing 4.000 people planned, making NVIDIA one of the largest employers in Taiwan.

“We continue to invest in the expertise that are here and diversify and make our supply chain as resilient as possible,” he said.
