NVIDIA and SK Hynix announce multiyear technology partnership for next-generation memory
The partnership will also see SK Hynix diversify into new markets NVIDIA is creating including codeveloping memory for NVIDIA Vera Rubin AI supercomputers, Vera CPUs, RTX Spark-powered PCs and Jetson Thor robotic computing platforms.
Following the big announcements at Computex with Taiwanese chip companies, NVIDIA now shifts its focus to Korea with a multiyear technology partnership deal with Sk Hynix to advance next-generation memory for the global AI factory buildout. Both NVIDIA and Sk Hynix have already been collaborating for years, and the partnership builds on the co-engineering collaboration to accelerate semiconductor design and manufacturing.
With AI factories seen as engines of the next industrial revolution, Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, stated that advanced memory is essential to their performance.
“SK Hynix has been an extraordinary partner to NVIDIA, playing a central role in delivering advanced memory technologies for NVIDIA AI computing platforms. Together, we will codevelop the next generation of memory for AI factories and support the accelerating global expansion of AI infrastructure — from frontier model training to agentic and physical AI,” he said.
For Chey Tae-won, Chairman of SK Group, both Sk Hynix and NVIDIA has been building toward this for years, with the partnership reflecting the depth of that collaboration.
“Together, we are codeveloping the next generation of memory for AI factories and applying AI to how we design and manufacture semiconductors — work that will shape the future of AI infrastructure,” Chey said.
Taking a deeper look at the agreement, Sk Hynix will continue to provide supply to address the extended development cycles of advanced memory. The partnership also comes at a crucial time, with the global memory market continuing to see strong demand, with prices soaring as well.
Sk Hynix recently became the third company in Asia to top the US$1 trillion market cap, peaking at a record US$1.12 trillion valuation. The other two Asian companies to reach the trillion-dollar market cap are TSMC and Samsung.
SK Hynix will support NVIDIA’s AI factories globally with its memory, ensuring that NVIDIA’s infrastructure roadmap and the sustained buildout of AI infrastructure worldwide. SK Hynix will also diversify into new markets NVIDIA is creating, which includes codeveloping memory for NVIDIA Vera Rubin AI supercomputers, NVIDIA Vera CPUs, NVIDIA RTX Spark-powered PCs and NVIDIA Jetson Thor robotic computing platforms.
To speed up semiconductor simulation, Sk Hynix will be using NVIDIA CUDA-X libraries and AI, including computer-aided design and computational lithography workflows. The Korean chip company will also be CUDA-X and the NVIDIA PhysicsNeMo framework to deliver core-workload acceleration across its in-house simulation codes and AI physics workflows.
By extending these tools to the semiconductor for electronic design automation and simulation ecosystems, this initiative paves the way for three-way collaborations among chipmakers, NVIDIA and electronic design automation software vendors.
