Semperis' Ridwan Basri targets stronger channel ecosystem across Asia

"We are committed to listen closely to its partners, understand the realities of each market, and work together on practical, repeatable go-to-market strategies,” says Ridwan Basri, Asia Regional Director for Channel and Alliances at Semperis.

As Semperis looks to build on its success in the Asia Pacific region, Ridwan Basri, Asia Regional Director for Channel and Alliances is looking to build the partner ecosystem in the region as well. Basri, who joined Semperis in March is hyped by the opportunities in the region.

With a strong focused on accelerating growth across the Southeast Asia, Taiwan, Korea and India, Basri’s immediate priority since joining the company is to accelerate mutual growth by building a highly capable, self-sustaining partner ecosystem.

“The common objective is to help partners develop the expertise, reach and commercial confidence to make identity security a strategic capability for customers,” Basri shared in an interview with CRN Asia.

Specifically, Basri said the focus will be on three priorities for the region. First, Semperis will be looking to deepening technical enablement for its partners. This includes moving beyond basic product and sales training to equip partners with practical expertise in Active Directory security, identity threat detection and response, and incident recovery.

Basri believes this will help them advise customers more effectively and deliver greater value throughout the security lifecycle.

The second priority is on expanding market coverage by working closely with leading regional partners, global systems integrators and managed service providers to reach organisations in highly regulated and business-critical sectors, including banking, government and healthcare.

The third priority is all about driving predictable partner profitability. Basri shared this is done by ensuring that partners that invest in Semperis have a clear path to return on investment through strong channel support, repeatable go-to-market motions and opportunities to build differentiated assessment, implementation and managed services.

“Ultimately, success means creating a partner ecosystem that can independently identify customer risk, position the right solution and deliver measurable outcomes—while growing sustainably with Semperis,” he said.

Building opportunities from challenges

According to Basri, partners across Southeast Asia, Taiwan, Korea and India are navigating a complex threat environment while facing a significant shortage of specialized cybersecurity talent. At the same time, he feels that customers are under pressure to do more with tightly scrutinized security budgets.

For Basri, the key challenges in the region include the cybersecurity talent gap whereby customers increasingly need sophisticated identity security and recovery capabilities. However, partners can find it difficult to recruit and retain professionals with deep expertise in Active Directory and identity infrastructure.

There is also pressure on partners to demonstrate value. Given that security investments are being evaluated more rigorously, Basri pointed out that partners therefore need to show clear business outcomes and rapid time to value, rather than simply position another standalone security tool.

The growing sophistication of attacks is also a big challenge as ransomware groups are increasingly targeting identity infrastructure because compromising it can provide broad access across an organisation. He said that partners are being asked to help customers move beyond traditional endpoint-focused protection towards a more comprehensive identity threat detection and response strategy.

“These challenges also reinforce the importance of enablement and repeatable services. Partners need solutions that are effective technically, practical to operationalize and supported by a business model that allows them to scale,” Basri said.

As such, Basri believes the opportunity for Semperis is significant because identity infrastructure has become a central part of the security perimeter. Organisations are recognizing that protecting users and endpoints is not enough if attackers can compromise the systems that control access across the enterprise.

There are three areas stand out when it comes to opportunities.

First, the growth of identity threat detection and response is seeing customers place greater emphasis on protecting identity systems, partners can help them assess exposure, strengthen Active Directory environments and build a more resilient identity security program—with Semperis as a key part of that strategy.

Next is the demand for high-value professional and managed services. Basri pointed out that Semperis enables partners to build services around pre-attack assessments, identity security improvement, incident response and post-attack recovery. This creates opportunities for consulting, implementation, managed detection and response, and ongoing resilience services.

Compliance, resilience and cyber insurance are also driving demand. With regulatory expectations and board-level focus on operational resilience increasing across the region, organizations are encouraged to review how they protect, recover, and demonstrate the resilience of critical identity systems. Partners can help customers translate those requirements into practical programs, while supporting the business case for identity protection and recovery investments.

“For partners, the opportunity is not simply to resell technology. It is to become a trusted advisor that helps customers prepare for identity-based attacks, respond decisively when incidents occur, and recover with confidence,” Basri said.

Committed to the ecosystem

“Our message to partners is simple: Semperis is committed to growing with you. We recognize that our success in the region depends on the strength, expertise and reach of our partner's ecosystem, and we are investing in the enablement, support and collaboration needed to make that success sustainable,” Basri said.

With identity security now a board-level priority, customers need trusted advisors that can help them protect, detect, respond to and recover their identity infrastructure.

“We want our partners to see Semperis not only as a technology provider, but as a long-term growth partner that can help them build differentiated capabilities and create new, high-value services,” he added.

For Basri, Semperis is committed to listen closely to its partners, understand the realities of each market, and work together on practical, repeatable go-to-market strategies.

“By combining Semperis' identity security expertise with our partners' customer relationships, local knowledge and delivery capabilities, we can help more organisations strengthen their resilience—and create meaningful growth opportunities for the entire ecosystem,” he concluded.
