Snowflake is now officially in Thailand

Apart from the launch, Snowflake also plans to deploy a local instance on the recently opened AWS Asia Pacific (Thailand) region.

Snowflake continues its major expansion plans in Southeast Asia as the AI Data Cloud company officially launches in Thailand to support its expanding customer base and partner ecosystem in the country.

According to Satchit Joglekar, Managing Director, Snowflake ASEAN, Snowflake's expansion in Thailand is a pivotal step in the vendor’s commitment to supporting and empowering local organizations with a high-performance AI platform with built-in security and compliance capabilities.

Since taking over the role earlier this year, Joglekar continues to lead Snowflake’s expansion plans in the region. Last month, Snowflake announced plans to deploy a local instance on the AWS Asia Pacific (Malaysia) region. Expected to go live in the first half of 2026, the Malaysian instance will enable Snowflake customers to keep their data securely on shore in the country, while continuing to leverage the flexibility and scalability of Snowflake’s AI Data Cloud.

The launch in Thailand is expected to enable organisations to unlock deeper insights powered by AI to drive business innovation. Snowflake will also be able to provide closer proximity to customer data and enabling governance and compliance with local data sovereignty requirements.

"With Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act now in full effect and the government's Thailand 4.0 agenda accelerating digital transformation, organisations — particularly those in highly-regulated industries like public sector, healthcare and banking — can have confidence that their data remains under their control, while leveraging Snowflake's AI Data Cloud to innovate,” added Joglekar.

Apart from the launch, Snowflake also plans to deploy a local instance on the recently opened AWS Asia Pacific (Thailand) region. Expected in 2026, this deployment will enable Snowflake's customers in Thailand to keep their data securely on shore, while continuing to leverage the flexibility and scalability of Snowflake's AI Data Cloud. The near-instant elasticity of Snowflake's services will now empower more customers — both in the public and private sectors — to scale their offerings and leverage Snowflake's expanding suite of artificial intelligence tools and services.

Supporting customers and the partner ecosystem in Thailand

Kirsten Gilbertson, Partner Organization Leader, AWS ASEAN commented, "in today's AI-driven economy, data and innovation are fundamental requirements for building a robust digital environment,”

As such, she believes the planned launch of Snowflake on the AWS Asia Pacific (Thailand) Region enables Thai organizations to confidently push the boundaries of what's possible with data while accessing world-class cloud and AI capabilities.

“This collaboration with Snowflake will give Thai organizations more choice and flexibility in how they innovate with data, while meeting stringent data residency requirements," said Gilbertson.

Meanwhile, Angela Koh, Director of Partnerships and Alliances, ASEAN at Snowflake stated in a LinkedIn post that the launch open a new chapter of growth for Snowflake and partners in Thailand.

“Partnering with companies like Accenture, Business Applications Company Limited, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Seven Peaks, iZeno , SSCI, TMES Company Limited, Fivetran Dataiku Braze LSEG and others remind me why collaboration is so powerful. With local availability, we can deliver better data sovereignty, faster performance, and more room for innovation,” stated Koh.

Customers and partners welcomed the announcement, including Accenture, BAC and WHA Group, which are already among those leveraging the Snowflake AI data cloud across the country.

"Snowflake's seamless integration with AWS provides businesses with easily-accessible data storage, analytics, and processing capabilities that empower innovation and efficiency in the age of AI," said Punsiri Amatyakul, Managing Director of Business Applications Co., Ltd.

Amatyakul added that with Snowflake's future deployment of a local instance on the AWS Asia-Pacific (Thailand) Region, Thai businesses and users will benefit from greater efficiency, with in-country data residency and lower latency for cloud services, while having access to robust compliance and security features.

“We believe this future deployment will drive innovation in Thai businesses, creating a strong and sustainable digital economy, and world-class products,” said Amatyakul.

Vivek Luthra, AI & Data Lead, Asia Pacific and Southeast Asia at Accenture commented, “as a strategic partner to both Snowflake and AWS, the planned launch of this platform will help meet growing demand for secure, locally managed data solutions. In particular, this will enable our Thai clients — especially in highly regulated industries — to accelerate AI adoption in the cloud and drive innovation and growth across their businesses.”

For Patcharin Tongaree, Data and AI Lead, Deputy Director, WHA Group, when it becomes available, Snowflake on AWS Thailand will strengthen their vision for smart, data-driven industrial ecosystems.

“With local deployment, we can accelerate predictive utilities, intelligent estate management, and AI-enabled operations across our portfolio, while strengthening Thailand's position as a regional hub for smart and sustainable industrial infrastructure," said Tongaree.
